For those with LASIK, how much was your operation and where are you located?

I won a $1000 off a LASIK procedure from the Assil Sinskey Eye Institute in Santa Monica (spun a wheel at SKi Dazzle in LA this past weekend), and called to find out the surgery costs anywhere from $3900 to 6000. I was just wondering if this pricing was standard, my college roommate had hers done in Canada and it only cost $2900US.

hey dezign, if you dont want it, I will take it.

seriously, i want to do this in LA as well before the end of the year.

A collegue I work with had this done, and I thought he said it was around us$2000, but was performed at the same time his wife was getting breast augmentation.
BTW, she showed of her new chest to me an my wife, but with a bra on! WooHoo, and they did look nice!

Oooh... You were at Ski Dazzle, too? I might have bumped into you! Did you get hit in the head by a little Asian girl carrying a snowboard? 😉

RE: Assil Sinskey Eye Institute -- they're pretty good, and pretty expensive, so that $1000 off is a good deal. You still have to keep in mind the cost for pre-LASIK procedure (e.g., eye exam, etc. -- sometimes, this can get up to $200). Just be wary of the charges.

Do you have health insurance from an employer that covers part of the cost? Have you priced different organizations that do such a service? If so, what was the average cost that you found?

Nashville - $1600 per eye for the doctor who performed the LASIK treatment, and $700ish in pre-op and post-op care by my normal eye doctor. So, total cost would have been near $4000. However, I worked the $700ish out in trade with my eye doctor, so I only ended up paying $3200.

I certainly was not going to use the "bargain-basement" LASIK shops that advertise prices of $299 per eye. After all, my vision is precious to me. Yes, the equipment may (or may not) be the same. But if all I'm doing is paying for my LASIK doctor's education and experience in case something goes wrong, so be it. It's money well spent.

I haven't had it done, but a few people I know have gone up to Canada and they paid approximately $1000 USD/eye. (I live in North Dakota, so a drive to Canada is easily done.)

After the operation, they drive down the next day. No problems thus far. I don't know the name of the place they went to, but if you were very serious about it, I can get it for you.

Baltimore, MD: $4400 for wavefront lasik through tlc vision. I think that they charge $3200 for regular lasik. This includes a 15% discount that I receive becuase of a negotaited deal between TLC and my insurance carrier.

PM me and maybe we can work something out 🙂

I won it by spinning this wheel with 100+ possibilities, of the 100 only 3 were for this prize. I've been thinking about LASIK for awhile but don't think I'll be able to afford it... the $1000 certificate is good for a year, and they didn't fill in my name so it's fully transferable.

I went on Saturday, there were lots of little Asian girls carrying around snowboards... 🙂 Some great deals there, what did you pick up? I bought a pair of Rossignol Soft 2 ski boots and a pair of Oakley goggles for my fiance (goggles only $29!).

Thanks for the feedback on Assil!

Many Lasik offers ($299) are just a teaser. Also, they seem to want to charge you based on the quaility of your existing eyesight.
