For those with an Antec SX1030...

I'm using 18" IDE cables in mine with an older msi6309 mobo. they'll reach the top 5-1/4" bay without trouble, not much to spare, either.

Boards with center-front cable plugs won't have any trouble, some boards with extra IDE channels down lower might require some compromises....

I'm using a shortened cable on the floppy, about 8" or so....

I use a 9" floppy cable, and 18" IDE cables. I'm working on figuring out how to fold my cables to get them out of the way and still be able to use flat ribbon cables (Voodoo computers style), so I might need a longer cable for my CD-RW and DVD drives in the future, though.

I've had both MSI-6309 and Abit Kr7A boards in my 1030.

Cable lengths weren't critical for the MSI board.

An 18" IDE cable is an absolute minimum to connect to IDE3 or IDE4 ports, due to their location on the KR7ARAID board. The FDD port is also just above these ports on the KR7A board. I made the connections with the same IDE and FDD cables I used with the MSI board, but just barely. If the floppy location were any higher on the 1030 case, I would have needed a longer floppy cable. Longer IDE and FDD cables would provide better cable-routing flexibility for this case/board combo.

Hope this helps!

I've got a KR7A-Raid and a 10" floppy is too short (floppy header is at bottom of Mobo along with Raid channels). 18" cables are fine for the rest of the system.

*Found the Generic cables are easier to get out of the way than the round cables. These cables just look cool!
*Got a true Antec case and one that's not. Make sure you get ANTEC!

What type of case did you get, Chenming or Chieftech cases are the OEM suppliers for Antec. What are the differences you see?
