Thanks. I'm waiting for my copy of Oblivion. Going to play it with an nVidia GeForce 7900GT.

err you will be shocked :! the game is sort of like what farcry did in early 2004. "My comp can't run it" "I can't run the game on all high" "I Need a graphic card" ect the cries . The developers had to chop out few stuff as not even the latest GPU can handle thoes feature. like Advance lighting that made the game look dreamy , Shadow for non movable items and some other stuff. Bad thing about Nvidia users that they will not be able to turn AA unless they want to chop out the HDR which you wouldn't want because sunlight/lighting looks awesome with HDR. The game also happens to be Dual core ready thanks to xbox 360. they spent quite a time making it multithreaded software/game.
The game's graphic will surpass any game graphic upto date. Oblivion forest are so beauty and also when you take a trip to hell , that place is hot evilish awesomish looking place.
wasnt this the game that looked awesome, then they cut out alot of nice features, leaving a few fairly good ones behind?
Beats me. I'm just repeating what Bethesda has said. HDR + AA is a no-go, no matter what card you use.
Im scared. My 6600GT is going to get rocked. Im going to pick up a 7800GT before I even try to play this.
Yup. Some German magazine had screenshots showing the game after they made the cuts. I don't know if this is the way it's going to be, but in those shots it looked like characters' facial features were not casting shadows, which made it look much less realistic.
Cutting shadow casting from small inanimate objects is no problem, i.e. stones in the wall, cups on a table, but when you start cutting shadow casting from character features it really becomes noticeable.

They didn't use Valve's method of HDR then. There are a couple different current ideas to implement HDR, and I think Valve's implementation was the compromise that allowed you to run AA with it but had somewhat reduced accuracy. Either way, I am sure it will look pretty.

Because most people are dropping their 7800GT for a 7900GT. Thats where I come in. Instead of paying $300, I pay around $200. Ebay is a magical place.

I agree. So far, the screenshots have looked nice (with a few exceptions here and there). In some of their shots, I've seen quite a bit of aliasing. They've been showing off the HDR, which looks great, but the no-AA is distracting in some places. Maybe AA+Bloom will be better.
While I would try to push the resolution as high as possible to get rid of needing AA, I don't know if such a res exists. 2560x1600 with no AA

I don't know what to believe about the game, since you hear so many things about it. I do know that on the PC, there are a number of graphics settings you can adjust for things like draw in distance, etc. If you have to mess with AA outside the game, that is fine with me. Will have to see how that goes.
I have also seen screens of the game run on both slower and faster systems. The difference in detail is not that dramatic. I think one of the primary video concerns is the draw in speed as you move through an external environment. Faster cards with more video memory likely will be able to max out this setting.
I am assuming that in general, the latest video cards will run the game very well, driver improvements not withstanding. It sounds like Oblivion is rather scalable overall, and should be nice with most features turned on for those with anything north of a 6800GT. For me, the primary concern was the ability to run the game widescreen, which it can do.
