actually, if I am getting one, I would get the best so I wouldn't regret in getting a slower one. Plextor 16x, here I come.
 
You might want to take a look at your local Office Max store. They currently have the HP 9340i (regular price $179) for $99.99. No rebates, either, just under $100 for a quality 10x4x32 burner from Hewlett Packard. Check out the Hot Deals forum for some of the creative ways to get one even cheaper. I felt it was a fair deal as it is, so I didn't go to the hassle of coupon codes on top of pricematching. It almost seems unethical to get a drive like this for $70 or less. I am happy with mine for the sale price from the store that made the good offer.
