Play it for a couple hours and post back what you think of it. I would like to know what everyone thinks of it compared to Vice City. Is it alot better,little better basicly the same thing just different location?

yeah I'd rather have it for PC just for the better graphics but can't wait another 6+ months for it. Will prob get it for PS2 now and play it again when PC version comes out. By then I would have forgotten half the missions.

I'm not going to beat around the bush. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is the single best PlayStation 2 title I have ever played. It's larger than the biggest RPG, has more story than the heftiest adventure game, and has almost as many mini-games as Nintendo's Mario Party. Additionally, it has a production value that's second to none, boasts a faithfulness to '90s source material with an eerie accuracy, and provides more hours of entertainment than all the previous Grand Theft Autos combined. In short, it's a terrific unending masterpiece of a game -- and one that will never fall victim to an over-exaggeration of its lofty status. It's the defining piece of software for Sony's successful sophomore system, and it's almost impossible to imagine a PlayStation 2 library without it.

I was going to cancel my pre-order and wait on it (lack of money due to hard drive sales and other games coming out within the next two weeks, more specifically Nov 9th). But now I'm trying to scheme my way into buying it. I have an unused GBA sitting here with a couple of games, along with the Sims 2 I never play.

I just called my local EB to see how much I could get for Sims 2, but he said they had both registers backed completely up right now because GTA just came in, and he couldn't give me the info at the moment.

Ok, reasons I'm tempted to buy GTA:SA for the PS2 and cannot wait:

" Wow, I am mucho impressed with GTA:SA, doing a drive by to "Danzig - Mother" just feels so....right."

"Actually for a ps2 game it really is beautiful...I cant believe that the world (whell what I have seen thus far) can even fit on a ps2 disk...much less look as nice as it does...in compairison to VC I actually have to say that this looks better..."

" can you drive around the entire world without seeing a loading screen...it streams off of the disk"

"I'm lovin GTA:SA so far. ESPECIALLY when one of the voice actors is Samuel L motherfvckin' Jackson"

OK GUYS .... AFTER PLAYING THE GAME FOR ROUGHLY 5 HOURS, HERE ARE MY INITIAL THOUGHTS

1) It rocks ...
2) Seems like they got a new graphics engine (lighting looks more dynamic, and the rain looks different)
3) Great soundtrack but I have yet to find the funny talk radio station (if it exists)
4) Tons of mini games (pool, arcade, console games, weights, training, etc)
5) HUUUUGE MAP ... you think that post that showed the map made it look big? You should see the map given along with the instruction manual
6)I think Samual L. Jackson is the voice of the cop at the beginning of the game
7) Heat waves (when you stare at something, you it distorted because of heat waves)
8) Those wanted stars are alot better (ie. if you have two, not every cop in the world is coming after you)
9) Totally re-did sounds, the gunshots sounds totally different
10) Believe me, tons more, I was just taking a break to post my inital thoughts, I am back to playing
 
guess i'm spoiled with doom3 and far cry and so on. personally i think the graphics are bad, but its a big city, so i guess that's the tradeoff. the guns sound gay, the dialogue is kinda funny, and gunfights still seem stupid because i'm used to a mouse.

but anyway i really have no say in this because i only watched someone play, and only for 5 minutes.

definitely! especially this november. I don't remember what the big titles were last year, but NOTHING compared to this.
 
Every November is the best month for games. But this year is especially nice: MGS3 Snake Eater, HL2, Halo 2. I wish I had the time to play all of them.
 
I guess I'm really going to have to get this... I could probably trade in some DVDs to blockbuster to feed my addiction... I hate buying so many games at once.
