Amazon has the downloadable versions of MBL2K12 and NBA2k12 for $9.99 each. I happen to like both titles on the PC, I know there's a lot of people that hate them. They have the version with Steam DRM(I hate Steam) and a version without, I opted for the version without for both titles. My first time buying a downloadable game through Amazon. The whole process was really smooth... download the title, get your key, install and done. It installs the game and no other bullshit.

Edit: The deal is over.

Sounds like fun but if I have the time I'm going to the park and playing some real basketball.

I get enough exercise as is not playing real basketball. I have a hard time finding time to sit down in front of the PC to play any game which is why I don't have many.

I don't know why people find Steam so awesome, I tried it years ago and I hated it. Why install it if they have a version without it? I guess if you love Steam and have it installed already it won't matter to you. To each their own.

It's a great service/utility for managing hundreds of games. When I buy a game on Steam, I'm getting more features than I would have if I just bought the game stand-alone.

Indeed, to each their own.

Yeah I think it depends how much you game. I have two games installed on my PC now, NFS Shift 2 and MLB2K12. I didn't even get to install NBA2K12 yet. If I played games like I did ten years ago maybe I would be into Steam. I don't like Securom either but I want to play the game so whatever, I'll deal with it.

Here's a scenario for you..
New PC build. Okay time to install games. Find 20 different discs, log into origin and download, log into Amazon and download,etc..
Or just install steam to your game drive and start downloading your purchased games.
Also don't forget the sales. Nearly every game out and at various times they are discounted tremendously.

And I have about ~350 games installed. :) If those were all CD/DVD installations, it would be a nightmare. But since they're all on Steam I don't mind.

350 games? You have time to play all of them? For an amount like that yeah I can see Steam being a good resource. A lot of bandwidth and waiting for downloads to complete though no matter how you slice the cake.

Like I said, I think it depends how much you game. You're apparently a full-timer, lol. Even back in the day when I considered myself more of a gamer I never had more than maybe eight titles installed at once.

Well, for Steam, it's not the matter of time to play games, we just buy them due to the deep sales.

Hahah I wouldn't consider myself a "full-timer". I do have a job, which limits me a bit.

I just like having them all installed, so if I have the urge to play something random, I can play it immediately. I have the hard drive space for it, so why not. :p

How is NBA 2K12? Last one I played was '09. I really like it much, much better than EA's because they actually tried to go for an NBA simulator, not a ridiculous fast break crazy dunk fest. Oh and EA hates PC gamers and stopped making their game for us.

Does 2K12 still have all the various modes (season, franchise, etc.)? The description only mentions the legendary players which I don't really care about...

NBA2K12 is supposed to be a fantastic game from the reviews I read. I'm not sure what features it has, I'm going to install it today and fire it up.

There's a ton of different reviews on various sites.

As for MLB2K12 it got mediocre reviews but this series always does. People love to pick it apart down to every last detail but I personally like the series and we have no other choice for a PC baseball game. I also think this is the last year 2K Sports has the MLB license so who knows what the future holds for PC baseball games. It's worth the $$ in my opinion.

I can't seem to find one review that talks about anything other than the legends stuff though. I just want to know if the normal game modes are in.

Anyone here own NBA 2k12 for the pc and tried out any online modes?

I've tried like hell to track down any PC reviews of the game, but came up with hardly anything useful. I'm just curious if you are able to play some sort of coop online with a friend against the CPU?

Huh? Plenty of reviews mention all the other options and modes: IGN, Gamespot, Operation Sports, etc. Video reviews too.

And why wouldn't the other modes be in? They always are, always have been, and always will be. You still get the full Franchise/Season/My Player etc modes that have been in the games for years and years.

Everything's in there.

Good luck trying to play this game. Its riddled with bugs which 2K seems not to care about. Bought my copy from Steam. I submitted a request for assistance over a month and a half ago only to receive a response just the other day. The response wasnt helpful either. Every time I try to play a game in franchise it crashes to desktop. Go ahead and look on steams forums or google search that issue before buying. Its a good game when it works.
