I'm quite sick of these new generation guys, all bastardizations and rehashs of the greatest epic cartoon ever... But while on a trip to the local Meijer, I found this: http://www.transformers.com/product.asp?sku=80641&c=transformers

Look familiar to you? Yup... Onslaught - leader of the Combaticons, which merge to form Bruticus... not the new Bruticus, but the REAL one. :) So I picked up all of the Combaticons, which as far as I know, are physically identical to the old ones... They just have new colors and new names, as far as I know...

Brings back old memories. Maybe they'll keep on with these old characters and designs...

Edit: I believe the real names of the Combaticons were Onslaught, Vortex, Swindle, Blast-off, and... forgot the tank...

Great post. I often wish I could again walk down the toy aisle and see all the old autobots and decepticons looking out at me through their packages. These new ones just aren't the same. I still keep my old ones to help remember the good times.

WTF! Check out the Product Descriptions! IT IS BLASPHEMY! How could they have corrupted the Transformers? Check out Grimlock, or Optimus Prime, or Iron Hide! Not being die-cast metal was bad-enough, but this??? Cheap corrupted styling? What is this world coming to? NoOOOoOOoo! :|

<< Grimlock >>

Prehistoric Construction Equipment. (But.. it runs on fossil fuel!)

[Q}Optimus Prime[/i] >>

Hmm. A Fire Truck.

I suppose a little moonlighting on the Dallas-San Jose run is going to be out of the question now, eh? ;)

<< Iron Hide! >>

All they need is a Gateway logo. :p

Ah well, give them enough time, and Marketing will find a way to screw up anything.

i thought the constructicons were decepticons and not autobots..???

anyways, i think the cartoon they played awhile back... was dumb.. i preferred beastwars/beast machines over the revival cartoonish version... but the ultimate of course were the originals.. :)

Brings back many years of childhood, I should have known from my taste in cartoons that I'd be a geek :) Ahh the good old days, brings me back to the times my school got their brand new appleIIs's and later that hailed apple III... Excellent post, makes me wanna head out and find me some divX's, I have 2-3 already... Mask, He-Man, Thundercats, Transformers, Johnny quest (later). ahh to be young again and carry the knowlege of my years.

What the heck happened to the constructicons? There used to be 6, and the formed Devestator, not Landfill.. bummer, I would've bought all 6 if they had the old constructicons..

Anyway, here's a link to the transformers season 1 DVD collection as well:

LANDFILL? thats basically saying "these constructicons combine to form... garbage!!!"
Did you guys see those train combiners? look like they were made with extracurricular pleasures in mind.

my brother has the truck robot from the combaticons. well at least he had it. i loved the old die cast ones. the combaticons were a later series after they changed to plastic. my cousins have the really old stuff, like perceptor, megatron, optimus, and some of the jets like starscream. those were the best. one of my other cousins actually had decepticon city and aonther one had metroplex but he left it in the philippines.

wooT Transformers, I use to have so many of those, back in the days,,

Hey that optimus prime is a powermaster.. they're cool just like the target masters and the head master.

The Constructicons have a total of 6, plus 2 added forearm and hand, the hip, the chest plate, and the head.,, I have 2 of those set, I traded 1 set for the Airobots ( five autobots jets that can merge)

Onslaught - I also have that too, it's the first generation 2 ones, it's orange, but the plastic is like the orginal, no cheap plastic like what they use now. I still need the tank, black hawk, and the shuttle. (if you look at the picture on the new Bruticus they mess up on the merge and place the tank as the right arm instead of the shuttle, it's ok, but just doesn't look right.).

hmm, I might just pick up the rest to merge into Bruticus,, wonder if the liquer store near my place has any in stock( they had it for $9.99, Why the heak I didn't buy it at the time? no idea :frown:, , .. Does it seem strange I buy toys from liquer store? of course not.,, I got my Super NES from a Shoes Store :)

Yes, there were 6 constructicons.

Six construction vehicle-based Decepticons. They consist of Scrapper (payloader/robot), Hook (crane/robot), Scavenger (steam shovel/robot), Mixmaster (cement mixer/robot), Long Haul (dump truck/robot), and Bonecrusher (bulldozer/robot). They have the ability to combine to fom Devastator.

Scrapper - Right leg
Scavenger - Right arm
Long Haul - Lower torso (trunk, waist)
Bonecrusher - Left arm
Hook - Upper torso (chest, shoulders)
Mixmaster - Left leg

Such great memories with those things. I think JetFire was one of the best. He was made so well. I think he was pure steel! I don't see how these new ones will make it without a cartoon promoting them, especially when they are made so cheaply. I wonder if there is a political reason why they aren't making the original ones.

oh yea! I definatly remember. Hard to imagine my childhood without certain key toys such as: Transformers, Voltron, Ghostbusters. All the originals, not the new stuff but the stuff that would hurt when you threw it at someone. I wish I'd kept all my old stuff, but we had a flood over here years ago and almost everything had to go :( I miss them all sooooo much.
