I dont mean you do some bench press's and the machine breaks and half chokes you :p I mean like you just cant do what you did the last time you were at the gym?

Like today, i could only run for about half the normal distance and my shins were killin me, on the resistance machines i could only do them once, didnt have enough to go round them again twice like usual. Bad days just come & go eh? My mate says so, but i want more opinions. Most of my mates are lazy soabs that dont know what a workout is :s

I certainly do. I think it could be many factors such as your diet, sleep, how much water you have in your body, if you warmed up or stretched. But yes its fairly normal for me that is to have this occur from time to time.

Yea. If I've been drinking the night before it noticeably affects my performance. Amount of sleep, stress during the day, what I ate before, what I ate through the day all affects me as well. I have it down to a science of what will get me through and what will cause me to fall flat on my face.

My mood actually has a lot to do with my performance. When I'm angry or happy I do awesome tends to be the opposite when I'm depressed.

Sweet... Today i woke up and thought nahhhhh im jus stay asleep as i was tired as hell, ate nothing, didnt warm up, drank a shizload of coffee, and argued for two hours as to whether or not we are doing enough to help the environment. This was all prolly linked to my crappy workout :D

Shame cuz the gym was like hollyoaks today. Dont know if hollyoaks is on tv in the USA, but its this soap filled with hot girls, acting skills are irrelivent in getting a part in it :)

dude wtf! ewww.

I have 'bad' workout days all the time. A lot of it depends on my work/stress level. Sometimes it helps, sometimes I just feel like crap....

You gotta be careful about not burning yourself out. I read some statistic somewhere that said about 70% of the people who start going to a gym, stop after about a month. This is why most gyms want you to agree to a year committment at least.

The important thing is to force yourself to take days off. If you are faily new to the gym, start out only going once or twice a week and over the course of the next few months you can up it from there, depending on what your goals are.

I've been working out regularly for the past 6 months or so. At first I only went 2-3 times a week and now I go usually 5 times/week.

Supplements help too if you are really serious about it.

You also want to change up your routine and the type of exercises you do. In other words, you might want to try some new exercises to spice things up and target some different muscle groups/regions.

Some people get too bent on just doing the same thing over and over. In order to see the benefits and changes to your body, you have to increase your loads over a long period of time. Otherwise your body gets used to the monotony and your brain does too.

Hope this helps

Your in the exact same position as me, been about 8 months for me though, i take protein shakes every day, 3 spoons of power + milk on a rest day and 6 spoons + milk on a workout day, which is every 2nd day. In addition i have free weights at ma flat which i use a lil after the gym 17.5LBS.

Yea, that happens to a lot of people, depends what your lifting/doing. Onetime i was physically sick, drank too much water and pushed maself too hard considering i was back from the xmas pig out. Lucky i was out of the gym sitting on some stairs.

Yeah I tweeked a muscle in my shoulder or tricep on Monday so I skipped yesterday and then then went light today on my Bicep exercises today. Did a lot of reps instead of going heavy. Got a good pump but the lighter weights seemed to be as tough to do as when I lift heavy. The good news is the muscle I tweeked didn't bother me at all.

Everyone has bad workout days and your 'funny' about things breaking isn't all that far fetched really since it deals with injury. I remember one day doing DB Bench press and just suddenly having 0 energy and coming close to caving in my chest. They were coming down so quick I couldn't even toss them to the side. Luckily I managed to keep it from doing anything to me but it did end my workouts for the rest of the week.

Every once in a while I have strong gravity days where everything weighs more.

Yeah, you heard what I said, it has nothing to do with my strength... nothing. :p

Anyhow, lately I've been dealing with a pulled muscle in my lower back. It was starting to feel better, until I lost my balance putting my underwear on Sat morning and pulled something again. :( So I think I'm going to have to go light for a few weeks to let it heal, and then start an intensive lower back and ab routine to strengthen it up. I've been neglecting my core a little too much lately, I think, and I'm paying the price.

Man when I hurt my back I usually have to take time off, forget going light. That's the one injury I can't seem to work through. Evrything you do seems to effect your back injury, even walking.

i go after work. i am very sluggish at the gym if i've been sitting in traffic excessively long (1.5+ hours on the 10 freeway); and have very good days if i can get home in less than 30mins.

Yeah, I know... but I just had to lay off for 4 weeks recently because of illness... so I'm not really willing to lay off again. I'm just getting my size and strength back.

Well good luck. I know how it works on ones mind when you can't work out after doing it for so long. Last year was pretty good for me as I only missed about 4 weeks (not including the time off I took to get rejuvenated) total due to illness or injury
