1. Big L was a punchline artist. He was not an all around artist. On top of that, he had 1 classic album, Lifestylez of Da Poor & Dangerous, and 1 mediocre album. He cannot be the greatest.
2. Biggie Smalls was a storyteller, that often rapped about sex, crime, drugs, violence, etc. He had 1 classic album, and 1 mediocre album like Big L. He had a huge effect, and he could really make a track that you could bounce to. However, because his career was cut short and he only had 1 classic, he can not be the greatest of all time.
3. Tupac is the most dickroden artist of all time, especially after his death. He barely had any classic albums, although he had dozens of classic songs such as 'Trapped' and 'Dear Mama'. He has the most impact, had the most emotion, had the heart, all of that. However, a good portion of what he wrote was wack, including the diss song 'Hit Em Up', which had no thought involved in it, at all. It is one of the most overhyped and worst diss songs ever.
4. Nas, the kid from the Bridge who first came on live at the bbq in '91 with his verse, "Street's disciple my raps are trifle I shoot slugs with my brains just like a rifle." The same person that wrote Illmatic.. which was flawless, the bible of hip hop. Went the "mafioso" rap route with The Firm // It Was Written and his Escobar aka, dropped I Am.., and Nastradamus (which was WACK by Nas standards). Came back on top with Stillmatic, and defeated his foe with Ether. Dropped Gods Son and Street's Disciple, which were mediocre. Lost Tapes was much better than both. Nas has dozens of classic songs, maybe even more than Pac. He is more lyrical than anyone I have mentioned so far, he has the best album out of all the artists I've mentioned so far, and he is the only one living that i have mentioned so far. Illmatic, IWW, and Stillmatic (without braveheart party which was wack), and Lost Tapes are classics. 4 Classics. Potential GOAT.
5. Rakim. Where can I begin? Every album he has released with Eric B was a classic. The man is hailed as the GOAT, and released the 18th letter, a classic, and the master (mediocre), making it his worst album. I dont think there is a flaw in any verse or line he has ever spit. Has been quoted numerous times... has had a biography song made by Nas... dropped Paid in Full when he was around 17, which can only be matched by nas dropping Illmatic when he was around 18-19. So far, the best candidate for GOAT title.

I'll continue this later.

I didnt mean to say he was the greatest but he could have been one of the greatest if his life wasnt ended so fast.
