Yep, me too!

Actually, I like Linux et al better than Vista, sooo the question becomes...

Will I be downgrading to Windows 7?

Nope, not a chance, unless I buy a new lappy/netbook, and get it for free!

*FREE* is good! :D

I have Vista on my laptop but I rarely if ever use it. It's really just there to run Microsoft specific apps I have that don't have OS X counterparts, plus some games. I'm going to upgrade my desktop though so Windows 7 is going on that.

The thing that immediately pissed-off users was, they were too dumb or knot-headed to navigate Vista. That was a major failing of Vista, IMHO, having to click through multiple panels to perform simple tasks that took 2 clicks with W2K/XP. I've been using Vista for 2 1/2 years, and I still have to hunt around for stuff! Quick... How do you get to the Windows Experience Index screen?!?!? Gotta think about it, don't you?

Sometimes I feel like a 'My Brute' character, repeatedly stabbing the keyboard to get Vista to do something!

I dunno, maybe 'seasoned' users will have an easier time of finding things in 7, but I doubt it.

And, another thing...

When you think about it - Windows doesn't come with sh!t - and 7 will have even less included programs and features, because MS is pushing cloud computing. Sooo, you'll be stuck with all the ancient programs that you've used (and depended on) for years. I'm still using Office 2000.

The only real-world difference is the GUI interface! And, that ain't enough for me!

Running Vista Home Premium as primary OS but dual boot with W7. Still undecided at this point.

There's always some design changes and things get moved around with a new OS ,problem with XP is its been around too long so people have gotten use to it, when Vista was new and some people hated to learn a new OS again, after 7 years or so you would have no problems finding stuff in Vista,as to" Windows Experience Index screen" thats easy try Control panel then performance and tools ;),btw if people think Windows is hard to navigate how are they with DOS,now that was fun in those days :).

Bottomline with any new OS some people will always complain about something its their nature as they say.

It might be just me, but after using Vista for 2 years sometimes I have to search for a bit to find things in XP. Its like office 2007, some like the ribon interface and pick it up quickly, others hate it.

Actually, No. Orb, right click Computer and choose properties. Really simple.

Have you used the search features? Click the Orb and start typing what you are looking for. Example, power settings, click the orb and type pow.. with just those three letters a quicklist for options in control panel take straight to power setting options.

What do you want windows to come with? The EU has basically hamstrung MS to limiting included software. I love that the e-mail client is separate from the OS, hopefully it will be updated more regularly.

As far as updating a Vista PC to Win 7, I will for my main PC, a laptop, but the other 4 computers in the house will stay Vista.

Probably, I'm very interested by the XP mode in Windows 7, but I would need other reasons. I will think about it, but I'm not in a hurry, I didn't bother trying Windows 7 RC1, even though I did download it, it's on a DVD I keep just in case I want to try it. If I do buy Windows 7 it won't be until it receives at least one service pack though, I did the same for Vista, I waited until SP1 was released (actually I bought Vista only four months ago).

Nope, while Windows7 is better than Vista it isn't better by enough to make me want to pay $150 or however much it would cost to switch.

I'll stick with Vista on my computers until I buy a new computer and it comes with a Windows 7 license or I can get a free license through a promotion similar to Power Together.

Yea I waited a while to get Vista as well. I got it in November. It's a great OS and will get W7 after SP1 since there's really not big improvments over Vista.

I'll wait for MS to have another contest/give away. That's how I've gotten XP Pro and Vista :)

BTW, is that XP-mode only for software or will it recognize hardware that Vista/Windows 7 fail to recognize?

No I will not be spending the money to upgrade my existing Vista machines, but my new machine will run RC1 and I will probably get an OEM Home Premium when it comes out.

I am already switched to Win 7 on my new build and will buy it on day 1 instead of buying vista now and 7 later. There is no sense in buying Vista when the launch of 7 is so close and the RC is so solid.
