Talked to CSR at Dell and had her email me the invoice for my printer. She said this invoice is as good as the "dated cash receipt" that Espson asks for on its rebate form. Can anyone confirm? it is in the form of a Word document.

Thanks.

P.S.: Is your ink running out fast like mine?

Dhruv printer manufacturers typically ship a very small ink cartridge with the printer. The normal refills generally last much longer. Just a cost-cutting measure by printer mfrs.

I haven't printed enough to know how long the ink lasts, but the speed and quality of this Stylus 880 is impressive (even at $129). It is night and day above my old Lexmark Z11 and it works flawlessly under Win2K. I also noticed that while the Epson brand ink isn't exactly "cheap", it is far cheaper than HP or Lexmark brand ink cartridges.

I requested the invoice by going to the site and they sent me an "invoice" that says "This Is Not An Invoice" printed very conspiculously across the "invoice". What's up with this???

Yup, i received the thing. It is a letter from dell and clearly printed 'THIS IS NOT A INVOICE'.
I didn't request for the invoice so should I do that? is it a different thing that what i've received?

oh yeah! i assumed it was the same as the fax... the fax says nothing like "this is not an invoice"

but they only say that so you don't think you have to pay something, should work as a receipt dont you think?

I did request a invoice but I also go the Acknowledgment letter that said this is not a invoice. Is this what they send when you request an invoice? I guess I'll wait another week and see if Dell sends me anything else. However, now that I think of it they also sent me one of these acknowledgment letters for the Santa Cruz soundcard I ordered and I hadnt requested an invoice for it. I would expect my real invoices will arrive shortly.

quote from Hawkeye NJ about the Dell printer invoice taken from ~~~How Do I~~~:

<< Yes ! That is a receipt. That is why it is marked " THIS IS NOT A INVOICE " (All of Staples .coms orders come with that also across the whole page.)

Invoice , The goods or services itemized but subject to change

Receipt, A written acknowledgment that a specified article, sum of money has been satisfied, and shipment of merchandise has been received.

You're right Rally1, it is a receipt, not an invoice and it's done specifically so people won't accidently pay the same bill twice. At least Dell does it with blue that doesn't copy for the rebates, Staples does them in bright red.

Don't worry about it, the notification to advise the customer that the document is not a bill has no effect on rebates.

Okay, actually, I had followed the instructions posted earlier about going to the site to request an invoice. I did, and received no confirmations or anything in my email nor in my snail mail. That was a week ago. So I called up dell, and asked her if
she could fax me a copy (i read others got it faxed). And she said Dell doesn't do that. She was being a total bit*ch to me. I asked her (this was my first private dell purchase) why they send the receipt 30 days after the purchase, and she said it was for the customers security to not include it with the shipment. Then i said why not send it a day later, or a week later.. but why a freakin month later? Anyways, she got pissed i think. So u guys sure the "This is not an invoice" sheet will work? Otherwise, I"ll call Epson tommorow I guess. Thanks, and btw, so far i'm happy with the printer as well.

I don't understand why people are getting so worked up by the "this is not an invoice" receipt. Epson doesn't want an original receipt, they want a copy. Use some white out and make a copy. That's all there is to it. You can also attach copies of your email receipts to be on the safe side. I'd rather send in too much than not enough.

it's a receipt, what else can you call it, they dont ask for an invoice right? It shows the amount the date and the store, thats all they need.

if you are still worried, call Epson, but stop asking us! :)

I sent in the form that says it's not an invoice last week for the rebate. I got an email yesterday confirming that my rebate form was received and going to be processed.

The recepipt from Dell is correctly stamped "this is not an invoice". An invoice is something you pay from, the item has been paid for in advance, therefore Dell stamps the "This is not an invoice" so that payment is not made from the receipt. Simple, eh?
