This is what mine looks like for my HP Photosmart

I bought a Continuous Ink Supply System (CISS) off eBay for my HP Photosmart C7280 Printer about a year ago and it has worked great. I haven't had to buy ink for it yet and I do a bunch of printing and it has worked perfectly. When you do eventually run out of ink, which takes a long time, it's super easy to refill. I just can't believe I didn't buy one of these while I was in college with all the printing I did, which is why I want to make this post and inform everybody.

This is the eBay seller I got mine from, here is the store page:

Here is a youtube video of what installation looks like, you get a ton of ink:

There are CISS systems for Epson, HP, and Canon printers. Well worth the cost, I told everyone in my family about these awhile back and sent them the link, they bought one and no longer have to go online or to the store to buy expensive printer ink. I just wish printer companies would include a system like this with their printers, but then they would lose a bunch of their profits off selling over priced ink.

I have a all-in-one scanner, copier, printer inkjet color. I also have a monochrome laser printer. I use the laser most of the time, but it nice to have the ability to do color as well.

We use a CISS in our Epson 7000 they really work well especially if you need to change the type of ink.

One thing about lasers is if you plan to go with a 3rd party toner company be sure that the generics will work with it. My work has a Dell 5100cn color laser and although 3rd party toner is possible there are so many problems that it's not worth it and it can even ruin the printer.

Not sure if ink jets need to also worry. Looks like this CISS does the job well.

You can't print high quality photos with those though, inkjet printers ftw.
You can't print high quality photos with third-party ink refills, either. At least, third-party inks are noticeably inferior to the genuine factory photo (usually pigment-based) inks.

And it'll continue to work well until the chips in the ink tanks report to the printer that they are too old and the printer refuses to work with it/them any longer.

Ran into that problem last year with a refilled HP inkjet cart. Although the cart was nice and full, the cartridge itself had passed the expiration date stored within the chip on the cart, and the printer refused to work with it at all.

You can get color laser printers for >$200.

Why do ink jets even exist anymore?

The same reason people continued to buy shitty overpriced GM and Chrysler vehicles for the past 30 years: Consumer ignorance.

I agree with the others. A cheap B&W laser printer and 10 cent (or less) photo printing at some place like Sams Club is the best way. That way you spend far less and get far better quality than by trying to use a crappy home-based color printer.
