After the second time installing windows, I still can't seem to get the DFI nf4 board running smoothly. What things do I not need to install/shouldn't install? After the install, what drivers/apps do you install and in what order do you install them?

Ok first things first. What are your system specs? Have you set up your bios properly? What ps are you using? Have you read the sticky at the top of this page on the ultra-d?

that's not the problem. It's stable, it's just that I don't know what drivers I should have/ shouldn't have installed.

The newest official ones from nVidia's site.

If its running smoothly then it should be stable (which you said it wasn't running smoothly in your original post).

There is a common problem with Corsair ValueRAM and the early BIOS of this board. Update the BIOS and it'll work better for you.

Download the newest drivers from nvidia's site, then install the drivers on the cd that came with the mobo (except the nvidia drivers, since you got the newest verson and already installed them).

I usually do:

XP + Service Packs
Chipset Driver (for NF4 I don't install the firewall, etc. Just the basics. Use the latest 6.53 set.)
Other device drivers (sound, et al)
DirectX

Then I'll usually run a couple 3DMark type benches to make sure everything's behaving... if so, then I start reinstalling apps.

Here's what you should do/have:

1 - plug in all power connectors on your mobo. (24pin atx, 4pin psu, 4pin molex, 4pin floppy)
2 - us a 24pin native psu. DFI clearly states they require a 24pin psu (no adapters).
2.5 - update the mobo bios
3 - WinXP w/ SP2
4 - nforce 6.53 & marvel lan 7.21
5 - nvidia 71.84 & DirectX 9.0C

Do you have all the following ?

Jose
