There's a mistake, if anyone is registered there could you please point it out to them:

on the ABIT AV8:
"weak pcb wich means traces on the boards tend to get damaged very easily if the board gets bent just slightly!
read more about it here "

the link points out to problems on the socket 754 KV8 Pro mobo, which were probably caused not by weak PCB but because it's not a standard ATX sized motherboard, and people were incorrectly installing it to their cases.

Another mistake:
on the Soltek:
"locks dont work"

Locks DO work, but it doesn't overclock too well probably because it's very optimized for speed.

another thing - they claim the Vcore on the K8NSNXP-939 is not stable, fluctuating up to 1.9V. I however, have not experienced it.

Do you have a Soltek? I've been looking at it, but I'm curious about Linux compatability. I'm not really interested in OC'ing, just a board that will yield a reliable system without too much tweaking to run in Linux.

Any suggestions (with reasons) for a better board?

Asus A8V: TIP: thermaltake xp120 and corsair xl pro wont fit on this board

I have the Asus A8V, the Thermaltake xp120, and corsair xl pro and they fit. I have one stick in #1 slot and 1 stick in #3 slot. It is tight but it works fine.
