Nuclear boy scout, a classic.

His mistake is he had no way of even controlling the reaction. "let's just shove everything together in a ball of foil and see what happens, oh crap why is the Geiger counter going crazy? Run!"

I imagine actually building a nuke reactor even if you got it to work with be ridiculously illegal though. Not to mention if if any safety or automation system fails it could be bad. I don't think insurance covers basement nuclear reactor melt downs.

Really if you go the steam turbine route (nuclear would require this) it would make more sense to go wood fired.

Is that really him ? Looks more like some meth addict with his name photoshopped under it.

But then again, it does seem to be him :

What i do not understand, if he started to show radiation damage on his skin, would not go all alarm bells start ringing ?
I wonder if that damage happened in one day or that it is cumulative from several days. Strange that he did not get worried.

I think he has borderline mental issues like obsessive autistic type stuff.

Interestingly enough, if you build and detonate a nuclear bomb with zero casualties under the mandatory minimum sentencing laws you will get less time in jail then if you got caught with a certain amount of drugs 3 times.

And most likely you would get lots of press coverage and you can do the talk circuit make money and scare up the public on how easy it is to do this and that you were proving a point.

You can write a book on the whole thing and make money.

Or IP infringement, which is even higher sentences than drugs. The justice system is completely ridiculous.

Gee, hard to explain how a person that committed to safe experimenting came to an untimely end.

One of the great tragedies is that this guy did all his stuff before the YouTube/Selfie generation was born. His stuff would have been way cooler than a redneck with a beer in one hand and fireworks in the other saying "watch this!" to a group of his friends.

It's really him. Working around unshielded nuclear reactions is even worse for your health than meth is.
Tell that to doctors. See boron neutron capture therapy. Actually don't; it's an obscenity against common decency.

Interestingly , they have not released the cause of death.
Hahahha
Probably drug overdose , because he knew what was coming....

And it's actually " Atomic Boy Scout " , he was going after his "atomic energy merit badge".
----
While some of the things he did would not have outright killed him , when he 'got lucky' and found a vial of radium paint (along with all the watchdials) , and processed it , his life was forfeit.
His shed and back yard were designated as a "superfund cleanup site" .
Even scarier :
You can still do ,exactly what he did.

Oh damn. I wonder if his death was related to his experiments or not. Logic would make you think it was, but could be a coincidence too.
