Great post azazyel. Us old farts need these reminders every once in a while. I'm guilty of using some of the old commercial and movie references all the time. But at least the movies (Airplane, Caddyshack, etc. are still on video.)

As a music lover, the dissappearance of music videos on MTV is what really hurts.

One small nit:

It was Calvins (Klein). Trust me, I remember. But more importantly, Jordaches were NEVER cool in my book. Just a note to set the historical record straight.

OK.... First of all.. Im not old. Staring at 30, but not old. When MTV started playing "classic" videos and i remember the day they came out and where i was when i saw them, i felt i was giving up ground. My dad laughs his @ss off because he and i remember celebrating his 30th. I gave him a lot of grief about getting "old". Now that i am at the same age I dont see it the same way. I swear i see myself and as a big kid (so does my wife).

Does anyone remember Zipps, Roos, or Garanimals?

Weren't Garanamils the kids clothes that you matched by buying the shirt and pants with the same animal on them? I remember a lot of adults joking that they needed them for adult clothes.

well i was born in 1968 so this thread makes me feel realy old lol

in the UK we had 3 TV channels no cable till bout 12 years ago ;lol and loads of other crap heheheh

Hell I was born in 1953 and our first TV had a round screen and it was about 8 inches across. (B&W of course)

I think (on a GOOD day) we got 3 stations.

And we were GLAD to have them.

And we LIKED it that way!!

Yeah, Garanimals had the little animals and as long as you matched a Monkey shirt with a Monkey pants it will always make a decent outfit.

Roos. Short for Kangaroos were the shoes with the little pouch on the side. You kept your lunch money in it.

Zips were the tennis shoes with the lightning bolt on the side. "They made you run real fast" on the playground.
