For the love of god

Looks like hax0r to me. :awe:

Anyway, that file is part of the Creative sound card driver package. I don't think that I need to tell you that Creative's drivers are notoriously buggy.

Sooo this is what happens when you download those creative sound drivers, I always heard they screw everything up. Safe mode that and uninstall. :awe:

I concur. I moved away from Creative a few years back. Have an Auzentech Forte now and very happy with the drivers. They are slim and just work.

They should work (as in make sound), but they may not solve the BSoD issue since they're still based on Creative's drivers.

Got an email back from the guy making the drivers after asking him about the ha20x2k.sys BSOD error and he said in the email that his tweaked drivers fix that issue. I'm not vouching just saying. Who knows.

In the meantime, are there any other "gaming" grade sound cards out there that are non Creative?

Not a gamer and don't know jack about what kind of sound codecs are used, but the way I pass hi res sound to my AVR is through my Sapphire Radeon 6850 HDMI out.
I can get full resolution DTS-MAS 7.1.
Other than that the Realtek 889 on my MOBO ain't bad.
