For the love of god please help me with my CS!

Can someone please help me? When I try to connect to a game of cs through the console it builds the server and then I just hang there, then I have to put the ip in again. Once I get in I have no problems with cs, it is only when I am connecting. I have tweaked my video card and also added the heapsize and nothing helps. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

how about connecting normally (not through console) through add server in the internet games page. what happens there?

You are precaching too slow, and you are getting disconnected from the server in the process. When you reconnect its already cached so its not a problem. Defrag your harddrive, do some memory tweaks in the bios, I can't think of much else short of reinstalling cs (that helps me sometimes)

I defraged my drive that didn't help either. I connect better going through the internet games but it is still a lot slower than is should be. I got in faster using my 400MHZ which makes no sense to me at all. I don't know how to do any memory tweaks and I am scared of my bios.

Do you have your connect rate set to cable instead of 56K? sometimes it switches on me after a crash or so error.

Yes, she knows about as much as I do!

Someone suggested to me that I check to see if my DMA was enabled in my hard drive, it was not. Now that it is I seem to be connecting faster. Thanks for the suggestions though!😀:|
