Ive been looking into water cooling. Im still unsure if it the right way to go!?! Ive never built a water cooled system before but it cant be that hard, so im up for the challenge :D

My next build will be a Quad Core.

So what i was wondering is are any of the below kits any good??

AlphaCool Complete Set 240 Water Cooling Kit

AlphaCool Xtreme Pro 240 Rev.2 12V Water Cooling Kit

Im not really looking for extreme overclocking but silence is a must!

Also i have read that water cooling can be a pain? Having to flush/bleed the system every now and again. This wont be a problem as long as i remember!

One more question what is the Water Cooling system in the Thermaltake Kandalf LCS like?

Thanks for any info!

i dont recomend any of those kits you linked to.

How much is your budget? also do you need an external?

If its a external your looking for, there is only 1 real solutoin i can recomend. That would be a NEWLS1 waterkeg III.

Ok i wont buy any of them kits then! Are they not upto much then?

My budget is around £150 (dont know what that is in $)

It doesnt need to be external, im thinking of buying a Antec P182 (unless i find something i like better!)

Thanks so far.

should be enough to keep your quadcore cooled.

Here's the waterkeg aigo mentioned, but it's slightly out of your budget

If you want real ease of use, wait for the new compact series to come out from swiftech. It's exactly like this model, but with a dual fan rad http://www.swiftnets.com/products/h20-120-compact.asp

+1

nice to see when people give the correct advice about water. :D

Good to see you are doing some research instead of jumping on some watered down ,HAH, kit.

It took me awhile to finally decide on my swiftech setup, and I am happy for it.

There are plenty of supposed "kits" out there that only require you to attach a waterblock with everything else hooked up. And there are plenty of air setups that wipe the floor with them as well.

As KoolDrew said it is always best to plan your own custom loop. And to hand pick your own components seperatly. You will save $ and have more of a sense of accomplishment.

On the other hand you can spend you ~300$ on a kit that already has a good mix. That in the end was what I did. Though next time I am going all custom...$

Good luck!

be careful when building a kit make sure you have everything before you press order check your order over and over before you order anything and make sure you order extra of things you arent sure how much you will need. hosing, clamps, all that good stuff. cost can rise quickly if you have to make multiple orders. trust me i just did a $700+ water cooling setup. that is new case and water cooling. i did a dual 2x120 setup. it is badass but it cost me an arm and a leg but it was worth it in the end. start with a basic kit and add on. i think its a good way to get a base price and then add on what you need from there. tabbed browsing is the best thing with it comes to doing multiple configurations at multiple sites for price checking. good luck and have fun. once you go water though you will never go back. its kinda addicting.

Kits are usually not to be recommended, especially the ones by Thermaltake, or the Corsair nautilus.

The Alphacool kits are among the best around, only the tubing and the water additive aren't good there, and I'm not sure about the connectors. The pump, CPU cooler and radiator are among the very best for that kind of money (or even are the best, differences are neglible).

The only kits that can be fully recommended are Petra's, the first one Raider linked is great for Quad Cores. Unfotunately those kits aren't available in Europe, so the best thing available here are the Alphacool kits.

I have a Ready2Go Coolermaster Stacker case with Alphacool triple radiator, Eheim pump. Everything came preinstalled and prefilled. It was a piece of cake installing the cpu.
With ASUS Qfan slowing the radiator and case fans to 80% rpm the thing is barely audible. And it's still as cool as it could be with ambient at 22°C, giving me idle temps of 24°C for my Q6600@3Ghz. It goes to 48°C under full load on all four cores with Orthos so I think the kit is just excellent.
