Lol, not trying to make you mad.

Gamer girlfriends come with their own set of problems, though. Right now I have a hard time getting her to so much as empty the dishwasher while I'm at work because she'd rather play WoW.

I've played Supcom on GPGnet a lot last year (410 ranked games, went into top 50) with a X2 3800. I didn't know that my CPU was the bottleneck until I changed to a X2 5000 BE @ 3.2GHz. The 1.2GHz bump made me realise how CPU bound this game is...

A Q6600 oc'ed will crap on any dual core, especially if the player prefers to play with the "processor killer" AI. The damn AI in this game is so taxing on the system...

lol, jax... I'm an asheron's call (older MMO) fanatic. I'm not sure how I am going to deal with not having time to play it when I get into trade school this fall.

And about supcomm: I played it a bit on my x2 3800+ when it first came out (friend bought it, brought his copy over to test, wanted me to join, I told him only if my machine can run large maps with large unit counts and with AI)... Let's just say I didn't purchase it, and I am still a bit miffed. :p I was actually disgusted that it needed so much CPU power, but I'm not complaining about the game, I'm complaining about my x2 not being up to the task.

so, wait, it's more AI killing the CPU than the game otherwise?

Maybe I should try getting a large number of players in a large map game, with no AI >_>

The problem is even when theres players there is AI running in the background.

When you set things on patrol the AI is on.

when you move your unit the AI is on, thats why it autofires unless you set it on hold fire.

You cant get rid of the AI component because even if there is a human player controling, the AI is in the background making sure the unit doesnt sit there and act stupid.

Even a Q6600 will start crawling after 60 minutes on a 81x81 and even 40x40 map with 5+ AIs.

On a Q6600 @ 3.2ghzx 400x8fsb you'll run into gpu issues faster then cpu issues.

3.7ghz, no lag whats so ever as long as you have your gpu's in check.

4.25 ive been trying to make the system lag, so far no luck. :T

Damn, I forgot about the AI controlling the players units.

V_V now I want a quadcore. And a better mobo that can OC a quad properly.

Basically, I own two copies of the game (One I bought on release, one came with my current GPU when I bought it a year ago).

When I upgrade my girlfriend's computer, I'd like to put SupCom on it as well so we can play it together.

My E6600 seems to be unable to handle large maps at all, the game only stays smooth on medium maps with no more than 4 players.

Does this game really require quadcores to be playable on large maps? Wtf?

yah extreme 45nm quads are the best for that game.

The best was at my last lan party I hosted in Charlotte. My wife was playing UT with us all. She was the only female there and you'd hear random guys getting pissed then yelling, "I JUST GOT blanking KILLED BY STRAWBERRY!" You'd hear my wife giggle and she'd continue on kicking ass. ;)

 My wife (back when she was my GF) used to play UT with us at LAN parties. Now she mostly plays WoW. :(

yeah, but everything I've read says 680i is terrible for quad OC.

hell, I can't even OC my dual above 3GHz. it's stable here and I've yet to get it to post at 3.1+. Not a hole because no value I've tried works. It's only stable with 1.4v as it is.

And I have no idea if it's the chip or the mobo limiting my OC.

WoW is as bad at myspace IMHO. They both contribute to the moral decline of society. ;)

Nah, WoW is just as bad as RO, Everquest, and every other MMO out there.

They're all infinitely better than myspace. MMOs contribute to the moral decline as much as CS and Quake do. Which is to say, not really at all.

They do, however, exaggerate bad internet behaviour in morons. Moreso than any other PC game, really. More than any game than Halo, IMO :p

I had a lvl99 High Priestess on RO when i was stuck in that black hole. :X

The white glow under you was pretty cool. Then the game got boring because lvl99 is BS hard on any other class. Sorry Kyrie + Max Dex + ME + Blessing + glove with phen card = the best mob skill hands down.

After i got 99 i gave up on that game. Sold the character to a clan mate. and deleted the game. Scared to touch it again.

XD, yeah, ME priests are the fastest levelers in RO by a stupid amount.

Don't pick it up again, RO is vastly inferior to more modern MMOs, and unless you live in Korea/Japan, the pirated private servers are actually more populous than the official servers.

I have a 6600 dual over clocked to 3.15 GHZ. That can handle high settings and a fair amount of units and destroyed units. Changing video cards made a huge difference for me (went from 7600GS to 9600GT.. BIG difference)

you seriously want your ban stick drawn when you see those games.

Seriously black hole would be an understatement if there was something better.

You get stuck in a virtual world and you never come out, or have to be pryed out. I feel that once a game stresses you out majorly yet you cant stop becase your obsesed in it, its not longer a game but a problem. :X

Thats why i like RTS and first person shooters. If someone pisses you off, just leave the game and join another one. End of story. :D

I played UT and Q3A for a bit, I still play Total Annihilation and now Supreme Commander. That's about it. I never got into Diablo II, WoW or any of that stuff.

Yeah, aigo, I never understood the whole MMO addiction thing. It's a fun game, I like getting stronger. I hope to be strong enough in WoW to gank some alliance kids.

But, y'know, if I feel like it, I go play HotD, DotA, SupCom, Starcraft, UT, or whatever else tickles my fancy. WoW (and all other MMOs) is just a game.

A lot of this "SupCom needs a quad core" argument seems to be anecdotal, is there a comparison out there on a loaded map between two boxes with the ONLY variable being similarly priced quad and dual core CPUs?

What's RO?

a game made by a korean company called gravity.

RO means Ragnarok Online. It was a good and fun game. It followed right after the everquest craze and came out right before ff11.

WoW came by and killed it tho. :X Thats why i call this game the devils game. Its about 75-80% addictive after the first 15hours which are usually free if you use a mail cd. There getting about as bad as AOL now from the looks of it.
