I learned on my own with my first truck. A 3/4 ton, 68 Chevy, with a 4-speed. The truck had a granny gear for 1st... 2nd gear was out. I spent most of my driving time starting out in 3rd gear then going to 4th.
It wasn't bad, but I had to use the extra low 1st gear on hills.

Back when me and my friends were reaching graduation, one of my friends got a new bright red Integra GSR and he let me drive the car around. Crazy fun to learn stick on a car like that. :D

I was 18 but he taught me on his Toyota pickup (cheaper clutch then my current accord) and I picked it up in a couple of days. But every clutch is different. The Honda ones tend to be very grabby whereas Toyotas don't.

Where I live you don't really have a choice because 98% of the people here drive a manual

Tractors, trucks & motorcycles.

Was just giving my wife tips this morning on my pick-up, she's still too jerky on the clutch pedal, & shifts too early, but does a great job:D

Bought a $250 92 Eagle Talon. Within 2 week, I learned to blow a head gasket. By accident, i learned to drive stick at the same time.
