For Sony CD-R discs - 16X and 40X dye color diffrent, is this good or bad?

thatsright

Just got two spindles of the Sony 40X CD-R's and I noticed that the dye on the record side, is almost like a regular pressed metallic color CD, but with a slight yellowish tint. But the 16X CD-Rs I got back in Jan 2002 (I still have about 20 new ones left) have a much darker blue dye on the recording side.

Anyone in the know, know what the difference is between these two discs and/or dyes?

AND MORE IMPORTANTLY do you think the 40X CD-R discs would last any longer because of this 'new dye.'

Just my thoughts, thanks.

I've seen many different colors on CD-Rs. I doubt there's anything wrong with them. If they work, they work. If not, a trip back to the store may be in order.

But, it's my experience they're probably perfectly normal.

Yeah, i find the newer sony's look identicle to the Imation/Memorex CMC Magnetics dye, but the under manufacturer they are Sony.
