For Sale/trade Forum Changed?

A little rant here. I haven't done too many deals in the For Sale/Trade forums here lately, but have at least 36 heatware ratings dating back to early '99. I put some stuff up for sale last week and noticed a distinct difference in trading now. In past years if someone said "I got dibs on it", you could pretty well think it was sold. Not now. I have also seen a pattern of PM messages to this effect: " will you sell it for x amount.? (X being a lower amount than your asking price). I agree to their lower price;and Guess What? They are apparently playing some kind of game. They have backed out every time. If you shoot someone an offer, you should be ready to buy at that price. I exchanged 15 PM's with one guy(thought we had a deal twice), and still no deal. What a waste of bandwidth. Rant over.

I'll agree. In the past 6 months or so especially, it seems that the FS/T forum is becoming tainted with what appears to be Hot Deals forum junkies. Not once in my past few transactions have I sold something at my asking price. I keep having to bargain back and forth with someone.

Could you start a sticky thread or something with the names of people not to bother with?

I don't mind someone offering a lower price, but when you agree to their offer-To me that is a verbal agreement. If they back out at that point they are breaking a deal.

Damn! I'm a sucker. I've always paid their asking price. The last 3 times I bought from the peeps selling stuff on this forum, my transactions have gone something similar to:

1st pm:
Me: Do you still have it?
Seller: Yes.

2nd pm:
Me: It's $xxx, right? Do you take Paypal(uh, duh :p), I'll take it.

I think most of my PC-related purchases are impulse buys...

Dibs means nothing to me. This isn't third grade. Wait, ATOT is third grade but the FS/T forum isn't. Wait, Ok it is too but we shouldn't trade like third graders.

Well feel free to use my suggestion then. I was just lucky I guess. I had no idea there was a shortage of stickys there because when I want something I want it now and just go buy it from a store.
