How does the courtesy work in the for sale\trade section?

I expressed interest in a part in the thread and asked a question, but no PM, yet. 2hrs later the part was sold. I would think that since I expressed interest I would be first in line, right?

Guess I just have sour grapes or something. Just a little frustrated...:-\

I don't believe such courtesy is mandated here.. it's all up to the seller's discretion. But you can stiff that guy next time you sell something he's interested in.. 😉

Who's to say that you were the first to respond? It's quite likely someone PM'd him before you showed any interest.

I rarely buy/sell here, but am active other places and the general rule of the road is "I'll take it" trumps all general questions. Buyers beat tire kickers.

This. If someone offers to purchase it as listed, without questions or negotiations, I take that sale. Sorry if that is "bad", but someone with cash in hand trumps people with questions. Also, you are better off, in the future, PMing the seller.

If someone PM's me saying "I'm interested, does it include the dehydrated puffin" and someone else says "I'll take it", the buyer wins. For all I know your next message might be a lowball offer and a demand for an extra puffin.

Next time you might say "I'll take it at your price, as long as the snozzberries are still ripe" instead of "does it include snozzberries?", or ask your question but realize that an actual buyer might come along while you're waiting to reach a decision.

The thing is, you don't know if you were "first in line". Someone could have PMed him a while ago, well before you posted in his thread. Also, maybe he had it sold already and just forgot to update his thread.

Would it have been nice if he responded to you and said "sorry it's been sold" or something like that? Sure it would have, but just move on, no need to pout about it.
