For reference: It is snowing in Tucson, AZ

That's insane, I don't know how you people do it. That comes up to 37C. I remember going to a water park in the south and it was 39C, I was wet, and STILL sweating. There was one water slide that had a huge water leak issue, it was kinda nice because it was splashing all over the line. 😀

I did try to use a jackhammer at +30 once. I thought I was going to die.

25C is where things start to get uncomfortable. 20-23 is perfect. Can even do light work around the yard with shirt off without sweating too much.

102 here. 4% humidity. It's really not bad at all...I have chicken BBQing on the grill now. 🙂

its actually not that bad because its so dry. my brother lives in Nevada and it gets that hot in the summer but does not feel that bad, also at night it drops to the 50-60s and is quite nice

What's the big deal? I've seen snow in Tucson plenty of times during the winter.

BTW-Those doves don't look to me like they're raking. 😉

100F today, just over a month after the last snow.

The agave in our yard pictured in the snow above is spiking. The gif below shows the growth of the spike from yesterday morning to this morning, about eight inches. I'll try to update the gif every day as the flower spike grows.

I believe this .gif is missing 1354 days.

What kind of plant is that? Looks pretty interesting.

I need to build my light box, I want to start growing stuff too. I made a make shift light box using a cardboard box and a single CFL light, but I don't think it's generating enough heat to get the seed to germinate. Trying to grow a tree from a pine cone from my yard for fun.

It's night time, silly. You aren't going to see the snow from Canada in the dark. Wait for the moon to come up.

Lol oh lots of snow and ice here. My jog tonight was pretty cool at about -5c. My dogs are loving it though. Huskies.

I always laugh when snowmageddon happens in souther states. I understand no one is prepared in any way whatsoever but still is good for a chuckle.

In Tucson, rain turns everybody into morons.

In Tucson, rain turns everybody into morons.

Being from GA, I am very experienced at driving in the rain and even I almost added to that statistic. A light misty rain in Benson, AZ (right outside Tuscon) almost made me drop my bike on a cross-country motorcycle ride.

I had never seen a cattle guard before I pulled over there for gas. The placement of a stop sign with a cop car at the intersection (turned out to be Border Patrol) forced me to stop on it to be at the legal stop line. I suddenly found that I had no place to put my feet without my moto-boots slipping below the wet guard. I *barely* kept the bike up and got my footing... at least until I tried to move.

When it was my turn to go I gassed it lightly and the rear wheel made no effort to move forward. It just spun in place while moving sideways, sending me scrambling for footing again and almost dumping me... again. This repeated a few times before I was able to get it over one of the bars and move forward with enough speed to pass over the rest.

But it wasn't over! When I left I had to cross another, while turning, to get on the on ramp. Turning on a motorcycle means leaning and leaning means I'm already close to being laid over, so that's almost the worst place to have your tires slipping (only worse place is locking the front wheel while emergency braking). I tried to hit it as straight as possible with enough speed and killed power to the wheel but the rear still tried to slide out from under me. I made it across and reapplied corrective throttle just in time to save myself but the bike bucked when the wheel regained traction like it was trying to throw me off.

Screw rain in Tuscon. :colbert:

Heh. I had to go to Tuscon for a meeting. On the first day there was a rainstorm. I was like "whatever", just some rain, like everywhere else. However for the next three days that's all the locals would talk about, almost as if they just escaped the apocalypse or something

I'll be in Tuscon Friday visiting a relative, and running a 50 mile race in Page Saturday. Sure hope it doesn't snow, we have enough of that here in WI right now.
