? for Raptor owners

I read a review today on the Raptor HD that said that it does not need the SATA Power adapter. I have tried to find confirmation of this without any luck. At newegg they have a link to sell you the SATA power cable right below the drive. I am about to buy a pair of these and of course my cheap inner self does not want to waste $15 on a pair of cables that I don't need.

most true SATA drives use a SATA power adapter to fit to standard ATX style power plugs. The raptor is about the only one to have both. Most new HDs like Seagate have the adapter included in retail box versions

Like the others said the raptor is the only SATA drive to use standard molex connectors. But if u but retail the drives willl probably come with converters anyways.

There are Maxtor drives with both connectors. AKAIK, Seagate is the only SATA drive that requires the adapter.

Thanks all. I was about to order a pair and had found probably my best price on the drives but didn't know if there was more to be ordered.

Dont buy them now. Wait for em as 72 gb raptors are coming. AFAIK these drives will be lowered in price so it would be wise to wait the moth or two.
