For people who jog

I'm looking for a small light device that can measure the distance of how much i've jogged...i saw the Nike SDM Tailwind but it says i need to stop and take a knee to see how far i've ran. Is there a device out there that i can wear on my wrist?

A handheld GPS device would do the job.

Or you could just drive your route with a car later on to see how long it was.

That's what I do, plan a route with the car for desired distance, then jog it.

its called a pedometer... you can set a good one to measure how many steps you've gone or the distance

edit: i'm not sure about wearing one on your wrist though, how would it know when you take a step?

intresting...the nike one straps on to your shoes

You can get these almost anywhere. Most of the inexpensive ones clip to your belt, but there are some wrist-mounted ones.

IMPAC baby... thats why it has to be on your waist, or lower... its hard to measure impact from steps in the arms.

pedometers suck for accuracy, they can be as much as 40% off per mile. It's because they get triggered every step you take, but if your stride length isnt exactly to what it's set, or if it changes at all, it gets screwed up.

a GPS device like the garmin ForeRunner 201 is the best bet, but it's around $100. It's accurate to within 0.01 miles I believe, but the signal strength can be diminished by clouds, trees or buildings.

Pedometer, Wal Mart has one for $2.97 that I use that works fine.

Ok, I'll have to pick one up I'm swinging by there anyways
Just a note, SWScorch is right, there's not perfectly accurate, but for $3 it works fine for my needs.
