Alright, my fiance and I moved into a brand new townhouse at the end of July here in Orlando. Orange County provides our water and sewer service and I just got the October bill......for $48.27!

Looking at this bill, it states we used over 6,000 gallons of water from 9/2/06 to 10/11/06. Now why is this alarming?

From 7/28/06 to 9/1/06 we only used 1200 gallons.

Now I just called the office to argue with this. They are trying to tell me that this is normal for two people, three thousand gallons per person. They also told me the previous month was only an "estimate."

I'm asking ATOT to provide me with your water consumption. I think this is way too much and I'm not buying this at all. Someone prove me right (or wrong).

Mine is usually about $25 (Virginia), but I just got a bill for $45 because I've been lazy about fixing a leaking toilet.

1600 gallons on average and I'm just a single joe. $0.006019/gallon + $11.50 customer charge = $22.13 last month.

Sewer is in the property taxes

It's about 2000 gallons per month for us.

That's including both water and sewer?

Correct. I looked up our rates online and the worked backwards. We pay $5.05/100ft^3, which is just about 750 gallons.

We normally use between 2500 and 3000 gallons per month. Our rates are $2.20/1000g for water and $4.25/1000g sewer.

2BD/2BA Apt in Manteca, CA, two adults.

About 2000 gallons of water per month at a cent for every 10 gallons.

Sewer is flat fixed at 28 bucks a month though.

sounds cheap to me

when we lived in town, renting houses, our water/sewer was usually about $60-$70
now in the country on rural water (septic tank) we run about $70-$75 , unless we water the lawn or get a leak in a toilet

our household is 2 adults and 2 kids

i think we use about 6-8,000 gal. per month, but i would have to double check our bills

Water (one unit=1 cubic foot), amount used 540, Bill $11.25
Sewer is always the same as water based on you used 540 so you dumped 540 in the sewer. Bill $11.25

Wow you all got it easy. I pay $99 a fricken month for water/trash bill. Good thing we are still years off from being metered for water (so yes its unlimited use for a flat fee for now). Damn. :(

Instead of actually checking the meter they just estimate it for some time periods. You used more than the estimated amount from 7/28-9/1. So that's why the 9/2-10/11 amount seems high.
