For people that bought the Dell 4400 System *BLACK DVD BEZEL*

I emailed newegg about this awhile back and they told me that it does not come with an eject button. I was a little suspicious when I saw the pic and there was a hole there. Maybe things have changed since then, but this is just a heads up for those of you who were thinking of getting this.

<< Yeah, the eject button will remain white....
think of it as tan lines...

or you can always rely on the trusty sharpie...

guys just mod your own drive and paint it black or whatever color you want

a nice spray paint job done right would look much better than just black plastic

or if your lazy and/or cheap, just paint the bezel black with a heavy duty black marker. It actually looks pretty good when your done

Why would painted white plastic look better than black plastic?

Here's a good marker to use... Industrial Strength type is a lil harder to rub off, and @$0.89, it's yet another way to get that Staples order high enough to use a coupon.

I painted my cd-rom black to match my case and it turned out really good, put 3 thin coats of black followed by a few coats of clear enamal works and looks great, just make sure you give it plenty of drying time between coats, i gave it about an hour for each coat, more if ya spray it thicker

no. SOME people like their stuff to look PROFESSIONAL, not CHINTZY. to the person who posted this deal, thanks 🙂

How do you know that this bezel, from Toshiba, will be a perfect fit for the Dell 4400. The hight is probably a given, but with the curved front of the 4400 can you be sure the Toshiba bezel will fit exactly right?

Thanks

I have never seen a DIY job look as good as the black molded plastic. I see all these pics of modded cases and you can see where they missed spots, specificially around the edges or the paint just doesn't look even. I'm not saying that a professional job can't be done, it's just that every spray bomb job I've seen looks pathetic and you can definitely tell that it has been painted.

BTW.. Interesting spelling on Bezel.. 😉

I received the black "BEZEL" the other day, and it came with the eject button. It was pretty difficult to replace, but it looks good and the toshiba 1402 DVD drive I put in works fine, too.

Also, I think it looks better than a spray painted version. My friend did that, and it looks horrible.

Overall, it was kind of expensive ( 5+ 4 dollars shipping ), but it is aesthetically pleasing to the eyes, and cheaper than buying a new DVD drive.

How bout a little help for a computer novice, please.

If you buy this Toshiba bezel, are you limited to using a Toshiba drive?

Thanks

For those that doubt, you can use something called Vinyl dye or vinyl spray that looks exactly like black plastic once dried. It bonds to the plastic, and gives a very even coat. $3.xx at Home Depot.
I've seen people spray brand new Sony F500s with this stuff; it isn't chintzy.
