I think it's both funny and yet could be useful. Kinda like people opening mail after Sept. 11th with surgical gloves and the postoffice workers wearing gas masks. Statistically even if this sniper claims 20 people in the end he'll only be as deadly as the Anthrax attack...

Which is kind of scary if you think about it...

This is one guy in only a few cities. Imagine if a terrorist network were to plant guys like this in many cities across the nation. Granted, not each one would get as many kills, but just thinking about it is somewhat horrifying.

(Probably in before the lock?)

Ok then what is the point? We have established that this vest is useless in DC metro. So now we are discussing a deal that is probably not that hot considering this is probably the first site the poster saw with a BP vest. He thought it would be cute to post it and see what happens. If the poster did some research and this is a great deal than forgive me but it still has nothing to do with the DC sniper.

What is YOUR point? How do you know I haven't done my research before posting? Compared to all the other Level II and IIA body armors at around $800-1500, this comes lowest at $430. Did you do your research before commenting?

BTW, you think you are whom? Why people living in the affected area under fear should care what YOU think about this snipper?

It's interesting because people will fly down the freeway at 95 to get to work on time, then cover themselves up to not get shot. Just a matter of perspective I guess.
Your professor is an idiot. Tell her I said so. F*cking Californians need some sense slapped into 'em.

Those vest would probably stop a 9mm pistol rounds. Anything above that would just pierce through it like hot knife through butter.

Actually, it's

"FKed Up beyond all recognition."

It's from WWII and is a military expression used to describe well, something that is really screwed up.

Another phrase from the same period which is still used today is FIGMO, which means "FK it, I got my orders." This usually was used to mean, "Don't bother me, I don't care, I got my orders (to PSC (Permenant Change of Station (as in reassigned to another location) and I'm outta here."

We have NOT established that the vest is USELESS even against the most recent sniper.

It's a simple matter of physics that this vest will stop a certain amount of mass traveling at a certain velocity. There is an inverse relationship between these two items. This means that, if a bullet was shot at you and that bullet was:

A) shot from far enough away that the velocity was small when it hit
or
B) was slowed by being shot through something (like a car door)

...then this vest COULD make the difference between being torn up and being bruised badly. The chances may be small, but there is a chance which only the ignorant would refuse to see.

Somebody was shot 5 minutes from my house and I do not consider this or any of the other 10 exact posts that have shown up here in the past weeks funny. There is nothing you can really do aside from staying inside at all times. This vest would not help with .223 bullet. The poster could care less about our safety because he dosn't even know what is going. He is just looking to start something.

Agreed.. you must be a very sick person to find an innocent person being killed funny.

Besides the point this bullet proof vest isn't meant for a high powered rifle. I think the muzzle velocity would be around 3000 ft/sec.

by the title of this thread, it makes it seem as if your trying to be funny-however, once i read the thread....i relized your not trying to be funny.

btw- well known? nah its not well known because i personally didint know that the bullet the sniper is using would shred a bullet proof vest.

I really hope nobody actually buys this crap thinking it's going to do anything.

Sometimes a little assurance, whether real or imagined, is all that's needed.

I'd buy that $125 one on the chance that it slowed a shot down...

I agree that these jackets would probably do nothing in stoping a high powered rifle bullet or absorb enough energy to do any good BUT that is no reason to crap on this guy that was just trying to help. I'm sure none of you have never made a "less than informed" decision b/f....

btw.... sometimes i do wonder if you ever read any middle posts Spanky ;)
