For old people like me, Patty Duke is dead

But they're cousins
Identical cousins all the way
They laugh alike, they walk alike,
They look alike, they talk alike,
What a crazy pair

That's the theme song to the Patty Duke tv show from the 1960's. Not me going nutjob or anything. And that's from my memory. I didn't just look up the lyrics on the net. So it will be off a little from the actual words. My point being I still remember the basic words and the last time I watched any reruns was probably over 40 years ago.

But only people over sixty years old like me will even remember that show. But you may remember her in the movie about Helen Keller (The Miracle Worker).

I remember her from reruns of her show but I also recall seeing her do guest appearances on game shows in the 1980's. She dressed in clothing that looked immature on her since she was around forty. She also seemed high on something. I found out later that she had some mental problems and what appeared to be drinking or drug issues might have been a reaction to her medication.

I was born in the 1980s and yet somehow I created this thread.

I recall that DixyCrat is a bit younger than me and yet he probably posted the most unlikely repost of all time by posting the same thing.

When I heard on the news early today I considered bumping one of those threads. 🙁

She was a great actress.
Least we not forget some of her films,
The Miracle Worker
A Christmas Memory
and my favorite, Valley of the Dolls.
Yes, Valley of the Dolls.
Even when it came to hamming it up, no one could play that role better than Patty Duke.
Now THAT proves a great actress. 😉
