for millions of mothers across the nation, this holiday season is turning into a time of "sacrifice"

America is such a wuss country these days.

Many people who describe themselves as poor often have big screen TVs, one or more decent cars, cell phones and such. It's so hard when one has to wear good clothes which don't have a designer label.

I saw a story about how a family were having a problem even paying the power bill this year yet last year spent $600 for their kid.

Maybe my parents knew to have a rainy day fund and make sure there was a roof over our head was the reason they spent $100 on each of us. I think one year it was closer to $80 as money got tight. But i don;t think they ever had to really worry about paying for the house let alone water/power.

Even now me and my wife will not really spoil our child. We will get learning items and clothes, but toys are a treat not something you get just because you got one last year.

But think how bad kids are today and think how worse kids will be tomorrow from idiots like this.

It's fashionable to be oppressed.

I can't read that, for to do so would be to commit to the idea that I should slash my wrists. I did, however, look at the picture. She has stage 1 and stage 2 walk-in kitchens, which google tells me cost $270-320 each. Save me the fvcking grief, what a whiny bitch. There is nothing worse than a whiny bitch. I remember when gas first hit $2 a few years ago some whiny bitch on tv going on about how awful it was at a gas station. In the backdrop was her nice new SUV. Silly sow. First, people shouldn't be such greedy little whores to begin with, but secondly, keep things in perspective. She's just a smaller version of a laid off wallstreet banker saying that he had to settle for a Cayenne instead of a Cayenne S for Christmas because of the tight economy.

EDIT: I'm not finished.
Kristen Hunt, will go without the designer jeans she covets this season.
Pitiful. What kind of a person becomes a parent and they still "covet" a pair of jeans that the only person who cares about is them? Maybe she should covet a gym membership and work off that baby fat so that her husband loves her more.

EDIT 2: OK, I'm reading it, then. This is my last AT post. Ever.
?I want her to be able to look back,? Ms. Hunt declared, ?and say, ?Even though they were tough times, my mom was still able to give me stuff.? ?
Tough times. I don't think a kid who's playing in stage 1 of the grand walk-in kitchen is quite away of the difficulty with coming by credit for a new business start up, do you, Mrs. Hunt? Tough times, feed your kid mud patties in Haiti. I don't consider $600+ in plastic sh*t from China to be tough times.

I'm not entirely convinced a depression would be such a bad thing when I read things like this.....

My wife and I do pretty darn well and even we don't spend $600 on my daughter for Christmas. That's just plain ridiculous. Hell, that's more than we spend on total for the family including what we get for each other. Even if you add in what we get for extended family members (nieces, nephews, etc) it's not much more than $600.

Hell no. I think this country needs some hard times. We've become a nation of spoiled, over-indulgent brats.

It's straight up batsh*t crazy. The only item we've ever spent close to that amount on was about $170 for a swing set, which has now been a hot item two summers running for both kids. I think it was a gift, even.

Our average is 100 per kid, not counting stocking stuffers. Sometimes its a bit more, for example one year my daughter got a DS, another my son got a $200 RC car BUT he paid $50 of his own money for it....

This year we've went a bit over that as we're getting a puppy. Thats it. The puppy is considered Christmas for all the kids, and we've talked to them about it. You can each get presents, or "The family" can get a puppy. All 3 kids wanted the puppy so.....woof.....

You don't understand Dissipate. This is why we need to inject money into the market so that we can loan money to people like this poor woman who needs designer jeans.

It's all relative. You could find the Poorest Homeless person in the US and that persons life would still be better than Millions of others in the Third World. I will also not that if this story was about the Poorest Person in the US, some would be all up in arms about that too.
