About the Dr. Perricone thing....
I think i am gonna give this a go. i am not sure if it is easy, but it certainly will be fun.
The reason i like it is because... after decades of reading about all the diet fads, and even trying some... they all seemed like hard work with minimal benefits with hardly any reasoning. they were mostly just... 'dont eat this, and stay away from that but eat loads of whatever. Count carbs, count calories, count fat grams'. Bleh... who cares?
Here is why he is different, why i like him and why i will try it.
i tried his hand cream and found it to be amazing. it really was. i did not try the rest of his skin cream, because i have had astounding results with the Shideido line (i am in my 40's so YMMV). But I skimmed thru one one his older books about skin and found it really interesting.
He is a dermotologist. World renowned anti aging for very rich ppl. He has been in the business for almost 30yrs and has a hell or a resume.
His premise is this:
While researching and treating ppl for anti aging, he found what is ... well, laymans terms is the inflammatory state. All the free radicals and oxidants in life play hell on the skin. And just as ... well, if you get a cut or scratch or sunburn, your body will try to fight off the bad stuff and it will get inflammed, he found that the cells in the body did the same thing. So, he was using diet and supplements with the highest anti-inflammatory properties, along with regenerative properties to 'turn back the clock' on aging.
Over a period of 10yrs or so, he noticed that many of his clients were having rapid and healthy weight loss in addition to decrease in the aging process. So, he spent about a decade doing research to know WHY. And then he started gearing towards the whole body.... weight loss, better health, anti aging. So, he looked at all the foods/supplements that he was perscribing for skin/health and did in depth studies to find which chemicals in foods/supplements did what in the body and how these foods/supplements affected weight gain/loss and health. Build muscle, lose fat, natural anabolic state, level blood sugar... and etc.
I like it because he actually explains EVERYthing.
To be honest, i never really thought about a lot of foods before. not really bothered. But now that i know all the chemical responses in the body, i will actually enjoy eating a lot of things that i would not have been excited about.
It is a WHY I want to change things... not just a 'do it' kinda thing.
I have done this... not strictly... for about 3 days and although i have not lost weight, i never slept so well and feel more energetic.
