not a hot deal

 If you post about 5 times a year at least make it a quality post. Find a cheaper price, argue why it's not a hot deal, etc. Don't just leave a retarted comment.

Umm lets see mwave had that drive for $165 two weeks ago. That is standard price. I thought this forum was designed for sales and HOT deals, not randomly posting items at regular price.

Besides, I would be weary of buying from that site with 13 lifetime reviews on reselleratings. http://www.resellerratings.com...rasburg_Technology_Inc I would much rather spend the extra 9 bucks and buy from a reputable online store such as newegg or Mwave

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16827136133

Now is that a response with more substance for you? I forget you have three thousand posts , you are all knowing and just OH so cool.

When I posted this newegg had it for $210 shipped and mwave was even higher. If you read any of the replies in this thread you might even see people who paid a lot more just a month or so ago. I'm sure in a few months when this price drops even further you can come in and thread-crap again.

FWIW I ordered this item on 3/26 and got it on 3/28; now you've wasted 2 of your 5 annual posts.

There's no need to be an ass about it. People post here with zero reward. If you find it cheaper, just post that. Don't mouth off because somebody called you out on a minimal (not helpful) post.

Coupon code has been extended (no expiation date given) by popular demand, according to their website. Made the Blu-ray burner (LG GGW-H20L) alot more attractive than it was a day ago. Coupon works for anything on their site. Got it for $259 plus s&h (about $8) goes for $329 and up on Newegg and elsewhere. Thanks OP, you saved me about $70.

😀

Glad it made it ok - sorry about not having the tracking numbers post quicker - we're still ironing out some of our procedures/automatation so customers can get up to the minute details

as for the bd players, BD in generall seems to have had a price INCREASE since the death of HD DVD.

Videocard is irrelevent since there is no hardware assist for this stuff yet, so just put in a cheap ATI Radeon HD 2400 for $50 and you'll be fine for now. Just have a good CPU.

Actually the reason he should go with a cheap HD 2400 card is because of hardware assist. I have a 8500GT and my CPU usage with a E6300 is between 15-30% running bluray or HD-DVD. Just about all video cards within the last year have hardware assist for HD movies.

Is that with our without Nvidia PureVideo? Just curious as PureVideo is supposed to offload it almost completely (as chizow mentions above).

Yes, that is with hardware decoding. It really depends on the movie and it does offload just about all of the decoding, sometimes running at 5-10%, sometimes up around 25% for more action packed scenes. Either way, you don't need a huge CPU if you have a newer graphics card.

I don't know if I'd say its particularly hot only because I think it will drop in price even further.

its now 20 bucks more on newegg... [edit] now back down to 193 with shipping...

I think items like this is on an extinction curve. Don't know how much more it'll drop before its sold out. Debating whether to just save some money and get a blu ray only for 40 less... It would be nice to archive out my hd dvds and be done with them.

Why should you be so weary of buying from us? 🙂

Those 5 posts a year are really tiring. 😉

He meant to say that decoding MKV containers can not be assisted by GPU as of today. On the other hand you are correct, H.264 and VC-1 decoding is widely supported on recent graphics cards.

uhmm no.
You can hw accelerate mkv file playback. Most of the video in mkv's are h264.
Install retail copy of pdvd, you can then use the pdvd h264 codec in any number of media players. (mpc, media portal, etc) Just set it as the preffered codec to use for that video type.
Im running an old x2 4200 with ati2400 to play 1080p mkv right now. Without the pdvd codec, its unplayabale.
Actually while most 720p mkv are dxva compatible the opposite goes for 1080p. Are the 1080p movies something you ripped yourself?

In media portal, there is a separate tab for the pdvd7 decoder setting. There is a check box for both mpeg2 and h.264 hw acceleration. I assume its working, since without these codecs the 1080p files are unplayable.(ffdshow) I don't know if it cares about 1080p or 720p.

I've not tried dxva, Im running xp. I'll download .net3 and try it out.
