My divorce took around a year and a half, cost close to $8k, then my exwife poisoned my kids minds with all kinds of lies. She told my kids I wanted her to abort them, and how I never wanted kids, told them I never worked, just flat out lies.

It must be nice to live in your world where nothing ever goes wrong.


As for the opening post, if your spouse lies on loans and credit cards, secretly gets them in your name without your knowledge, you are still responsible for the bills.

Your wife can walk in, say she wants a divorce, lay $20k of credit card debt in your lap, and there is not much you can do about it. Or even put you as a co-signer on the bills.

Why would anyone want to subject themselves to that?

I did what my lawyer recommended, work out everything with your (soon to be ex) wife prior to the filing of the separation agreement. Even though she ran off with a another man while I was out to sea she had rights to 50% of everything we owned. I got to have my kid every other weekend when I was not at sea.

There is a strong disincentive for men to get married due to divorce & custody laws. At the same time, women aren't as strongly encouraged to get married (certainly not until they're older) and having children without being married or in a relationship is widely acceptable and support by the society & the government.

Women still have a strong biological drive to have babies, so we'll see the unwed motherhood rate continue to climb, and government continue to grow to support that demographic.
