This is my first post so forgive me if its a lame one. I've found that you can see the "PLE" of the "PLEASE TRY AGAIN" message that losing bottles of the diet dr. pepper spiderman game have under their lables. It is of course backwards and very difficult to see but is always in the same spot on the inner side of the lable. This may depend on the way you local bottler has their machine set up - my local bottles messages are always between the spiderman picture and the "t" of the "DIET" on the outside. Just go into the convenience store and browse through the lables after you have seen where the message is on the loosers and buy the bottles that have a message that doesn't have the reverse "PLE" (or whatever letters you can identify on the loosers). Your sure to win - I've done it three times and no loosers yet.

P.S. This only works for the Diet Dr. Pepper because it has the white lable you can see through and I've only done this with the 20 oz bottles.

Geez you might as well just bring a pistol into Best Buy and take a copy of the game, while your at it take out 3 or 4 employees and the store manager too.

lol just kidding, let me guess they give you the game for free , you just pay $9.99 for shipping? :)

Sorry for the miscommunication. Dr. Pepper is calling their game the spider man game, they have all sorts of free drinks, coupons etc. I didn't mean the PC game.

I remember the guys at work used to do something like this, except with the Sprite caps for free product. You could tilt the bottle and see which cap was on. You would recognize a winner because it would appear to have more writing than the loser.

Funny anecdote:

I bought a six pack of 16 ounce Diet Coke bottles once. Locally, they have the same contest caps as the normal 20oz'ers. I'd always get a six pack because you were almost assured of winning one of the six caps for a free 20oz. So it was like getting the six pack for 1/2 price or better. Anyways, this particular six pack that I bought had six winning caps on it. It was unbelievable. I'd open a bottle. Winner. Open another bottle. Winner. Etc.

After the sixth winner, I went out and bought a lottery ticket. Felt so lucky.

I'm still poor...

Is that going to stop anyone? Probably not. There's a fair amount of that type of stuff that goes on hot deal stuff. I wish it didn't, but my wishing can't change anyone. The only person I can control about things like that is myself.

Hey at least they are not opening them up checking the cap and putting them back if they are a loser, I hate getting flat sodas from 7-11 . ;(

I didn't say I was opposed to it.

It's unsound because you're deliberately abusing a design flaw in order to win.

What kind of prizes can you win? If its just another free coke, I'll drink water. But if they are giving away a car or something I'm all for a little unethical soda purchases. This strangely reminds me of going to the store bright and early in the morning to look through matchbox cars for a treasure hunt. If anyone wins anything cool or gets a prize list, please link it.

I am inclined to agree with you that this is a bit iffy in the ethical realm but aren't a great deal of the "deals" people post on this site walking the ethical line. For example - the Dell for $60!!!
I almost didn't post it for no reason other than guilt but I have bought so many losing Dr. Peppers that I know that they don't have the stated one out of six winners they claim to have in their contest.
In short, my conscience tells me much of what is on this site would be unethical for the reason that these deals for the most part take advantage of other peoples weaknesses or mistakes. For that reason I probably won't be looking for winning Peppers anymore but I thought it was kind of funny that a big corporation would make such a stupid mistake and had to tell people about it.
This quote sums up your sentiment-
TEMPLE, William
"there is only one ultimate and invariable duty, and its formula is "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself". How to do this is another question, but this is the whole of moral duty"

I'll warn you now that repeated exposure to hot deals and especially off topic will inevitably make you much more dumb than you appear to be now.

The beauty of Temple's statement is how open to interpretation it is. It's ultimately a matter of ethical flexibility and my morals are on an intense program of Hatha Yoga and tumbling exercises.

how am I dumb? I posted a deal and you chose to open the topic of moral/ ethical aspect of the deal and I am in agreement with you. I am also interested to hear what you have to say if you have the guts to have an adult conversation without resorting to name calling.
