For Citibank credit card holders

If you have a Citibank credit card, log into your account and see if you are being offered a credit line increase without a check of your credit report. They seem to be in a generous mood.

If you have trouble managing your spending and will only go further into debt, ignore this thread.

I've never asked for a credit limit increase. But I get them anyways. When I canceled my BofA Visa I was at a credit limit of 13,500 while never having charged more than 700 on it. It started at something like $1000.

...I'm still wondering why I have a HELOC with an 8.85% rate from a bank that gave me a CC with a fixed 7% afterwards, I guess I just need to wait for the balance of the HELOC to drop below the credit limit and do a balance transfer... 🙂

Menu across the top "Manage My Account" then select "Credit Line Increase request".

If the next screen clearly says they are offering you $X increase with no check of your credit report, you're in. If it asks you to complete a form, skip it because that will mean they'll pull your credit.

That has been that way for years. You can only request it like every 6 months or so with out the check. My credit limit is already way higher then I need though. If i ever max out my citi card, it must be the end of days or something...

Does anyone really care for CC limits? I mean who's foolish enough to max their limit for such HIGH APR?

My limit is $16,000 or so and I do not give a jack. I full pay them off every month.

Having a higher limit is advantageous even if you don't need it because part of your FICO score is derived from your % credit usage. If your spending habits remain the same but your credit line is increased, it should increase your FICO score by some amount.

My card is a student card so my limit is fairly low ($3500), it started at like $1500 and they kept giving me automatic raises. I think I'm near the top of the student card realm now, so I doubt they'd give me a raise on this card. I don't really care...I don't use what I have anyway, plus student cards have obnoxious interest rates.

Yep, on my Citi Dividend card I was about to go from 9600 to 25k from multiple clicks on that CLI button (obviously without a hard inquiry too). Very nice, but I'll never use that much credit in my life.

Congratulations! Your credit line can be immediately increased by XXX for a total new credit line of XXX.

During the evaluation process, a credit bureau report was not pulled.

Please indicate below whether or not you accept this amount, or if you want a lower credit line, call Customer Service at 1-800-950-5114.

Score!

I've been clicking the button exactly once every 3 months, it's worked every time so far (like a $10k increase in total, lol).

Edit: I didn't get offered an increase, but I got one 1 month ago, maybe that's why.

Only upped it by $1600. But better than nothing. I'll have to check my Providian card next month to see if my credit score goes up, it seems to be stuck at 803.

It works for me, but in 1k increments only. They seem endless, I've clicked 4 times.(Dividend)

For laughs, I tried my old student credit card, $300 increments offered. Same endless credit increases.

My limit is +$20k and I pay off every month as well, but I think it's good to have higher limit just in case.

This is what I do once in a while to keep that thing in check. I call them to cancel the card. they offer to lower limit, I reluctantly agree.

My cards seem to up my limit every 6 months or so. But I took the +1800 they were offering me on the site for the hell of it

No dice for me. 25k open credit which i haven't used in the last 3 years.

$25K seems to be the limit for the automatic system.

Yolp ... at first I thought maybe it was because I have a -0.50 balance ...

Congratulations! Your credit line can be immediately increased by 0.00 for a total new credit line of 25,000.00.
