The following is info on the S2K Slew rate and S2K Output strength, taken directly from the site I linked for you on this earlier () :
<< Asus activated the settings to correct issues with the newer processors. The S2K Drive was made available due to a phase issue with the 850 and higher Duron processor and a Win2k based operating system installation. The S2K Slew was made available for the XP processor. As for settings, please understand these settings are NOT performance tweaks and you will net NO performance enhancement by changing them. They are nothing more than calibration settings to correct electronic engineering issues between the processor being used and the motherboard when the above conditions are met.
The rules with the settings are simple... if you system is stable with the current settings DO NOT change them for any reason, they are correctly set as is.
Usually the S2k Pad would be 1 for an XP proceesor and 3 for a Athlon/Duron but I have seen the opposite work just fine so if you are not having trouble, leave them alone >>
And:
<< Yes, slew rate is something that determines the rising slope of the timing signal, and is critical to the cpu. most times bios sets this automatically, but since the XP came out after the board was produced, a bios fix was made to allow manual setting of slew. The concensus of this forum is that the correct slew rate for the XP is 1, but I have also read of many using slew rates of 3 and reporting no problems. It may be that this is a fine tuning issue, and you should feel free to experiment if slew 1 is not working for you. You cannot hurt your cpu by setting the slew wrong--it just won't boot probably. >>
Thanks to Klondikekit and The Tinkerer respecitvely.
