For anyone who still plays Magic The Gathering...

Nocturnal

Where would I find mana cards? I bought a few packs of the expansion and 7th edition today and there was one mana card per pack. but, I need more as I just started re-collecting! HELP!

If you search around online, there are places that sell packs of random mana cards for cheap (a couple of bucks for two dozen or so) since they're so common nowadays.

Pshh I think I have huge stacks of mana around here somewhere.
PM me I might be able to dig some up for you. LMK.

Theme decks are a good way to go. Scroll down a bit on this page and you'll see some Onslaught theme decks. They come with about 25 mana each in the colors listed on the box.

Yeah...seems kinda strange actually.

I only just started playing one of my buddies recently. Maybe someone can solve the debate we've been having. From what I follow in the rules and from the little trainer computer game you can download it seems that creature combat works one way but my buddy has been to a couple small tournaments at this comics store and he says they play a different way.

Here's the deal...say i have a 2/4 creature and I attack, my buddy defends with a 3/6 creature. The way the rules seem to indicate I would do 2 damage to his defense of 6 and his creature would do 3 damge to my defense of 4. Effectively neither of us would hurt each other at all.

He's talking about my attack of 2 simply being beaten by his defense of 6 in which case my creature dies.

Can anyone clarify?

The creatures you have in teh above situation would not kill either of them.

Your 2 / 4 creature (I think its a giant spyder?) survives because the 3/6 creature only deals 3 damage to your 4 defense. The 3/6 would only do 3 damage to your 4 defense.

Therefore your creatures would survive.

I think where your friend is getting confused is the idea that your creature does 6 damage in defense.

The best way to look at it is
2 / 4
2 is the amount of damage the creature can do.
4 is the number of life points

you need the damage to be > than the number of life points for teh creature to die.

Ok, you just confused me there. If he blocks with a 3/6 creature is he doing 3 damage or 6 damage to me? If he does 6 then he would kill my 2/4 creature.

The first number is always the damage dealt, when attacking or defending. Your understanding in your original post of how the numbers work was correct, your friend is confused .In a combat situation where neither creature is killed they stay at their reduced health total until the owners next untap phase. In your case if you opponent could some how hit your creature with 1 point of damage after the combat, but before the beginning of your next turn then the creature would be buried.

Go to your local card store... they should sell you some for 10 cents each. You can also look on ebay.. but they tend to sell a buttload of mana at one time...

That happens during the Cleanup phase of any turn actually, the very last phase of any player's turn.
