I got this CDRW..... it didnt support DAO-Raw or SubChannel.... well it does now! Its nothing but a Sanyo BP900 drive. Go to www.firmware.com.bi and get the Sanyo BP900 3.27 firmware.... it adds subchannel reading, DAO-Raw, and support for 90 minute CDRs!!!!

It may not mention Subchannels or DAO-Raw but I know for a fact it added it because Ive used both :) And they didnt work before the firmware update. The reason is probably because the version before 3.27 already had it... but the Iomega uses an even older firmware possibly.

I just upgraded to 3.27 on the iomega drive 12x4x32 from BB.
IT did say scsi on the firmware update page.. but the upgrade
worked.. and DAO+RAW shows up in clonecd.. along with the usual sao+raw and +sub.
I couldnt get a clonecd .img file to burn in the old mode..
but switched to dao+raw (new) and it worked fine..also supported 'burn proof' nice!
I am kinda clueless as to what 'sub' means.. anyone know?

It's some kind of sub channel writing needed for possibly playstation games and/or a way of copy protecting.

Little OT, but on topic.
I didnt get to take full advantage of the iomega deal.
But I picked up a acer 10/4/32.
Havnt used it yet =D
But wondering if anyone has?
CloneCD? PSX?
Any idea if it works?

cejay-
I would buy your extra CDRW if you really want to sell it. I missed the deal (grr...) and the more I read in these threads, the more I want one of these. :D

Firmware link http://www.firmware.com.bi/
I got this burner and it now seems fully compatible with CloneCD. I also updated the firmware on my SAF(sanyo) 12x4x32 SCSI model (RW2) and CloneCD and Nero now say it supports overburn and RAW DAO too. I have not tried it yet with CloneCD. These drives are very similar but I like the IDE drive with burnproof better than the SCSI model without burnproof.

My 12x4x32 is still frustrating me....RAW DAO does now show up after the firmware upgrade (hooray!) but when I go to write for the image file, it just says writing failed immediately...doesn't even write anything to the disc....it is pissing me off...lol

Well it works perfect for me, Ive copied RA2 (Which has Safedisk2) and MW4 (Safedisk1) and a protected PSX disc which uses sub channels.

I know that adaptec makes a aspi layer and Microsoft includes a sorta crappy one with windows, but who makes this one?

Adaptec :) Adaptecs APSI installer wont run without some adaptec controller.... this bypasses that and just installs it.

Make sure there's no disk in the CDR and that DMA is DISABLED before upgrading the Firmware. All CDRWs use APSI to burn even IDE ones. The first thing you do when you have problems is disable DMA to the CDRW in device manager and reboot.Adaptec's APSI update page

Remove any CDs from the drive before flashing, yes, that is
always required. But disable DMA? I have never seen that as a
requirement...And I have never done that...And my flashes have
always worked...

I did alot of hunting on how to get this burner working good :) It paid off. You dont have to turn off DMA..... I didnt. Also Staples seems to be trying to trick you guys so they dont have to send it to you. Unfortunetely Bestbuy.com took it down, and I dont think the stores will be stocking this item anymore. However it IS in the Best Buy AD so grab the ad from best buy run over to staples or something and pay the $150 its worth it!
