For all you Futurama Fans

I love Futurama. However, the 4th season took a sharp dive in terms of the writing quality. The movies which followed didn't help this trend and the jokes got less interestign and cornier. I feel like the series has run out of steam. I hope the chance they're possibly given isn't wasted and they come back with the quality and entertainment value of the first 2-3 seasons.

Thank god - this is what they should have done instead of the movies - which never work for shows like this. Simpson movie? Aqua Teen movie? Family Guy movie... Yeah, all these shows are better when they're kept short and diverse.

No fucking way! Awesome! I fucking love Futurama, best animated series of all time. I own every episode and every movie on DVD, I'm a nutcase fanatic for this show. Bring it on!

And to those who didn't like the movies, well I just don't understand you. They were awesome. Maybe not quite as good as the series but still great.

I think I'll always love futurama for what it was. With the exception of the last one, the movies all sucked. I can only imagine that the show will return as a zombie version of itself, ala Family Guy.

South Park breaks that mould. I would also argue that the Futurama movies were great and The Simpsons Movie was not bad, above average compared with the recent seasons. Family Guy movie was pretty crappy, but so is every single episode of Family guy since season 3.

i've only seen Bender's Big Score, but basically it started out as meh, and then got much better after i watched it a couple more times.

the last one was the worst....it was way too self absorbed in nerdiness (or was ot the one before that?).

I'm guessing you meant Bender's Game, the Dungeons and Dragons movie, second to last one. I agree that it was the worst, but I believe they did A LOT of D&D jokes out of tribute to Gary Gygax, creator of D&D and friend of the Futurama crew (appeared on an episode) who died last year.

I'm mixed about this. I really love futurama, probably my favorite show. The Movies ranged from okay to pretty good. While I wish it had gone on, I don't feel it was killed really early in it's life (ala jericho) and that there is still a rich enough base of episodes to enjoy.

I hope that whatever they do each of these episodes are more independent of each other like the original run rather than blocked together in groups of fours to be packaged as movies.

The one I'm talking about is Into the Wild Green Yonder. I thought it was actually pretty damn funny. The rest of the movies sucked donkey balls though, especially The Beast With a Billion Backs.

Futurama is perhaps the best animated series of all time, in part because it was cancelled before it had the opportunity to become horribly repetitive (although the final season was certainly showing signs of heading in that direction). While I enjoyed the movies to a certain extent, they felt hollow compared to the series that preceeded them. I worry that Futurama's return after a long absence will be a reenactment of the depressing return of Family Guy; a series that was fresh and witty a decade ago returns as a shell of its former glory, a desparate attempt to cash in on the unexpected success of the DVD sales. As a Futurama fan, it has me both excited and nervous; to my recollection, no show has ever returned from an extended hiatus to be as good as it was in the past. It would be a shame if they ruined Futurama in this way.
