When I think emo I think black shaggy hair covering half a face, painted black nails, stupid music with lyrics that attempt to be poetry but fall insanely short, tight dark pants, tight shirt, and stupid band names involving any of the following words (Autumn, Dark, Ashes, Fall, October, sh!t like that).

Bands: From Autumn to Ashes, Darker My Love, On the Outside, A Static Lullaby, Funeral for a Friend, I mean they just scream "EMO". A lot of the bands incorporate metal styles into their music, that's what's popular these days

You should enjoy the fact that we hate you. If evecryone loved emo's then by definition they're not emo

Emo what?

😀

Does the maker of this video have a hearing problem?

"I'm going down in an earlier round. and sugar we're going down swingin'. I'll be your number one with a bullet. A loaded God complex, let's cock it and pull it."

What's so hard to understand about that?

Minor Threat's singer? formed Fugazi which is widely considered one of the first emocore bands. I love Fugazi and Minor Threat, but this newer stuff I'm seeing at shows is getting old faster than guys wearing chic pants. I'm still into the harder stuff like Brother Inferior, Aus Rotten, and the like. Propagandhi is another good one although not as crunchy. I guess what I'm saying is I like punk, but dislike emo.

Wa wa wa I hate life. My parents are awful. I hate my dad. My girflriend dumped me. I have no future. Life is over. I'm 12 years old.

Bunch of idiots who, instead of trying to fix their problems just complain about them and write "deep" poetry about pain like daggers and crap like that.

it's called the pussification of America. I blame public schools.

Uh Public Schools are pretty hardcore. We had knife fights and sh!t in Suburbia.

Bands:

Death Cab for Cutie
Rilo Kiley
The Elected
Minipop
Futurepigeon
Postal Service

..of course, subjectivity will rear it's ugly head. And for the record, I enjoy all of the above bands, emo or not, and no... I don't have a miserable, whiny life. Although I will agree that the stereotype is VERY strong and does reflect reality to a large degree. What I'm saying is... while emo peeps can be... well, like they are... not everyone who listens to an emo band is emo. Why, I'm not.... and I think someone in SF also listens to emo who is not herself emo... I'm sure there's more. I think.

Yep. My mom told me that back when she was in school, kids were beaten without hesitation.

It's oh so hard growing up in the 'burbs 🙁

Hehe yeah... I grew up in the burbs and it was rough!

Why, our back yard only had a swimming pool; not a pool/jacuzzi combo dealie.
The asphalt was always too hot for my feet when I walked to the candy store barefoot.
The apple trees in my yard always dropped apples with bruises on them.
My neighbor yelled at me for playing tag on his lawn.
I lost countless tennis balls to trees by playing baseball with them, using the sewer cover of our cul-de-sac as home plate and trees as the foul poles.
I got grounded for swearing at my video game once.

Don't tell ME I have no reason to whine!!

Emo= Dashboard Confessional, JEW, Bright Eyes, etc. I don't know very many of them because I try to avoid emo and emo kids like the plague. Go die emo kids, plzthxbai.

I hope you listen to some JEW and Bright Eyes - please; more than just "The Middle" or "Futures".

It's funny that most people seem to equate the music with a lifestyle, I'm sure you're aware that JEW has been around for 13 years and the lead singer is in his early 30's (married, with kids) while Conor Oberst is only 26, he's been writing since 13 and admits to having a very content middle-class upbringing - hardly whiny while creating some amazing lyrics.

Don't get me started on Dashboard... Further Seems Forever was *tolerable* with Chris - I credit DC for starting this overblown emo craze.

Anyways, I listen to music - I like it. Thanks for juding me. kthxbai.
