for all you AX-7 fans out there, it's back.

I have two AX-7/Panaflo combos on overclocked XP1600+ @ 2100+. I've been running them for months now w/no problems.

This is a great deal, the AX-7 is probably the best heatsink i've used in a long, long time - I paid about $25.00 for each so this is real sweet.

I'm running one of these on a Asus P4b533-V board with a P4 2.26 @ 2.72
Idle temps are 37c and under load reaches 42c great heatsink.I'm using a 2800rpm Y-tech fan at a quite 32db

True, AX-478 is almost the same, but it's most important feature, that nice thick base, is quite different, longer and nickel-plated IIRC.

Yes it's the AX-478,I thought the mounting was the only difference. Great sink though 🙂

Rock on! I have been looking for a couple of these to put in my 2U K7 Thunder box for a while.

So I assume these will fit on a Tiger MP then?

I'm not sure about the Tiger. In regards to the K7 Thunder: I know that a Dremel is needed to remove a small corner from one of the heatsinks because one of the socket's capacitors. That's no big deal to me...I almost prefer to buy parts with the need to modify in some way. (I love my dremel!)

maybe i should get this... i'm running a gc68 on top of a 2000+ palomino and my room is an oven.

think i'd benefit more from getting this cooler or getting a new case? my current case only has room for one 80mm fan and one 60mm fan.

Sounds like my exact setup🙂 What kind of temps are you getting? Mine never ventures above 45C.

mine idles at 49, load is around 56 or so. the heat was fine in the winter time (free heat!) but with summer coming up i'm trying to get the temps down. i probably need a case that can handle a few more fans.

I haven;t been messing with my comps for a while..
last I remember Socket A HS fits on Socket 370..
so does this AX-7 fit on a socket 370?
I am thinking of OC a celery 700...

It will fit on a socket 370, pressure agaist CPU (height) is ok too. HOWEVER, the socket 370 "keep out" zone around the socket is smaller, any capacitors or other components within roughly 11mm of the socket need be under 24mm tall (+- 2mm).

YOu don't need anywhere near this good a heatsink to overclock a Coppermine or Tualatin processor though, even a GC68 is more than needed, but still nice since it also accepts an 80mm fan.

I have AMD XP 2000+ cooled with Thermaltake Volcano 7 using Delta 32CFM cooling fan. Will AX7 with NMB 22CFM cooling fan do the job cooling my system. I really want to silence this system. Please let me know.

Also my Volcano 7 is big and does not seem to be secure (only one prong on each side) so I really like this 3 prong securing system.

Also I wonder what is the maximum XP processor speed possible with even faster cooling fan?

i think alpha heatsinks are still great, and they were at the top of their game until companies like thermaltake released products like the golden orb that got silimar results for a fraction of the price.
