and dont know about the recall
and you have a pending speeding ticket

you can fight it!!!
yes you can!
98 civic has a recall on civic floormats
go to your honda dealer and have it recalled(they drill a hole in your mat and add a pin to your floor to keep it in place)
take the receipt to court with you
tell them your mat got stuck on the pedal
show the judge the receipt
and win the case =)

they actually got new floor mats though.
mine came with the new floor mat already

I do recall seeing the recall notice in the mail for this...

But if you bought the car used, not a bad idea...

what? err my dealer sent me a notice way back in 98 and i don't think you can get a ticket for it. its just a safety issue to make sure the factory mat doesn't edge up too close to the accelerator. it took 5 minutes to fix

That recall was for '96 and '97 Civics as well.

The thing is that most of ford's recalls aren't any more serious than this.
