For a notebook: What would feel faster with 128 megs of memory...

Celeron 800 or a P3-700? Or would they "feel" to be equally responsive??

with 128MB I would go for the P-700 since it has the larger cache.
I think 256MB is the minimum for anything to run at decent speeds.

What are you proposing that the machines do? What work do you want them to accomplish?

If your talking about the ULV-Celeron 800A than that one would be much faster than a P3 700, these come with some Sony Laptops. The ULV Celeron 800A from sony are based off banias core and have 512KB of L2 cache.

Depends on what applications are being run. Assuming the CPU run at the same FSB, then I would go for the Celeron for basic tasks and the PIII if you plan on working in large spreadsheets, picture/video editing. I don't know if the mobile Celeron supports SSE, but those instruction sets could offset the MHz difference.

I should point out that a 800MHZ ULV Celeron is about as fast a 1.0GHZ P3.
