I got my FOP38 in the mail today from millisec, and that thing was an absolue B*TCH to get on! It took me about an hour to get it on my Duron 600, and my fingers were all bleeding after I removed my power supply and managed to get it on. But other than that, it seems to be a great heatsink, the deltas being "loud" isnt really true. There not that loud at all compared to 120mm Sunons...

SH*T!!!, I had to take the thing off to redo the L1 bridges because my .5 multipliers were not working, got it off fine, take the chip out, clean it up, go to put it back in and guess what happened. The clip broke. Their clips really do blow, the clip on the Vantec Socket A cooler I have is much better than that one. It took me literaly 45 minutes to get the clip back on somewhat (one of the thingys broke so it was reallly hard to get back on) and that was very very hard to do when youve got band-aids on all of your fingers...lol. Overall, im impressed with its performance, but I'd like to see GlobalWin do something about that cheapass clip on there.

Alphas are the easiest to attach(use needle nose pliers)...alot easier than this thing. I have my duron at 1000MHz 2.10 volts I better pray that this thing doesnt snap off on me...lol.

My fingers are still hurting days after installing FOP38.

But it is F***ing loud! I am going to source some Dynamat (CAR AUDIO SOUND DEADENING) and put this on the walls of my case. That should quiten things down a bit!

I agree, I took a long time and 2 people and a flat head screwdriver to put it on. And the force necessary to put it on chipped off little bits of crusty core, lucky it still works though. Durable Duron, my a$$.

I modded my clip cuz it's way to strong. I thought it'd break my chip in half so I took the clip on and put it on the side of a door and pushed on the clip until it became straighter, about half the angle it was at before. Global Win really really needs to work on this clip.

doesnt matter the fop32-1 has a similar if not exact clip that they are describing...i ordered the fop32-1 and it was a bitch to mess with even with pliers...and the heatsink flat against the chip..thus I was lucky enuff to have an old clip for socket 7 and that seemed to work better..snug fit yet not so snug that u felt that it was gonna pop off and shoot ur hs against the side of ur case. Anyhow, If you dont have an extra clip i suggest u first try using the needle nose pliers deal that alot of ppl dont seem to do...which makes it a bit easier...and if that doesnt work...bend the clip to be less of a "v" shape..just enuff to make it fit where its not makin ur fingers bleed like the guy above.

hope it works well for u..
btw i got my duron to 1 gig with this...1.825V using FOP32-1 (~45 C), generic silicone grease, KT7-R, SyncMax 256 pc133 ram

Hrm. I've removed and reattached my FOP38 3 times now, and haven't had any problems with it, and I just used my fingers.

If you do decide to use a screw driver, don't slip and scrape your motherboard!

Don't get screwed w/ the Fop 38 now.

I had the same problem with my fop32 clip. One time i even sliped and the clip chiped my duron. I almost cried but then it worked fine after that and hit a gig. After a few reinstalls of the clip, it got easier to put on.
