Oh wonderful bird is the pelican.
Its beak holds more than its belly can.
He can hold more in his beak,
than I eat in a week,
and I don't see how the hell he can.

-----------
After a while you learn
The subtle difference between
Holding a hand and chaining a soul
And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning
And company doesn't always mean security.

And you begin to learn
That kisses aren't contracts
And presents aren't promises
And you begin to accept your defeats
With your head up and your eyes ahead
With the grace of a woman
Not the grief of a child

And you learn
To build all your roads on today
Because tomorrow's ground is
Too uncertain for plans
And futures have a way
Of falling down in mid flight

After a while you learn
That even sunshine burns if you get too much
So you plant your own garden
And decorate your own soul
Instead of waiting
For someone to bring you flowers

And you learn
That you really can endure
That you are really strong
And you really do have worth
And you learn and you learn
With every good bye you learn.

My mom loves that poem...

While I was in Grenada, I found a perfect white sand beach, that no one had been on for days... I walked along the beach, and snapped and awesome picture of the jungle in the background, the sand with my footprints in it, amazing blue ocean with a small island in the background... it was awesome... when I got home, I pasted that poem onto that picture, put some shadow behind the letters in Photoshop and had it printed and framed for her...

She likes it :)

meh... not religious.... but i wrote these in college

Chess

One world
Made of Oak,
Two armies,
One white,
One black,
Each trying
To control,
Dominate,
Destroy
The other.
Not knowing,
Without the other
It ceases
To exist also.
The white king
Declares ?Charge!?
Let us win
This holy war.
With such
An emotional attack
One might think
Black might
Be defeated
Easily.
But?
Black counters
Whites offensive
Quickly,
Effectively,
Strategically,
Cold yet logical,
Waiting?
For White
To error.
Waiting?
The Black King
Terms his losses
As acceptable.
White moves
For the Kill.
Leaving himself
Exposed,
Waiting?
A bad position.
ATTACK...
A Blacks Knight Forks,
CHECK?
Whites Queen
Is lost,
The Army
In disarray.
A Black pawn
Promoted
To a Queen.
Two Black Queens,
One White King.
Check, Check, Check,
Checkmate?
No.
Desperation, Love,
Holy War.
White
Refuses
To die,
To be defeated.

Stalemate!

The War
Begins again,
Forever to continue.

?01011001?

I am ?Y?
Known to my commander as ?01011001?.
In the army of data
I am a messenger
Not a soldier.
I am stationed in the base
In keyboard.
I have just received my orders.
My mission is to help deliver
A secret message of strategic importance.
First, I am to rendezvous with two others
In sector 0x17FFF.
I begin my journey traveling to PS/2.
There I catch the bus.
Through the window
I can see the Pentium.
Mission headquarters,
The most sophisticated
Building in the world.
Hidden rooms, a maze,
Highly secure.
I exit the bus at sector 0x17FFF,
This place is known as RAM.
I meet with ?1000101? and ?1110011?
We get on the next bus,
Travel past IDE
I?ve been in there before.
There are only two buildings there,
The Disk drive and CD bay.
I don?t like it there,
All the room inside those buildings spin,
Constantly spinning.
It makes me dizzy.
Travel past Parallel and Serial.
I am glad we?re not going there.
Traffic is backed up there,
The spool & buffer lanes
For the toll gates to Printer
Are full.
Travel past PCI Port.
From which by boat
One could travel to Ethernet,
Which contains the only entrance ramp to
The Information Superhighway.
I long to go there.
Maybe during the next mission.
Finally we arrive in AGP.
By cable car we travel to the base at Monitor.
When we arrive,
We are escorted to Screen.
Finally revealed
Is our secret message?
YES.

The feelings of an Atom

I do not know my name,
As long as I can remember,
I have been called Na.
I am lonely,
I tried making friends,
But, it just never worked out.
I once met someone named Helium, but he snubbed me.
I once met an H2O but he beat me up,
And tossed me out.
I once dated a Chlorine, but,
She stole my outer electron and never returned.
What is wrong with me?

Am I too fat?
I only weigh 23 atomic units.

Am I ugly?
The shape and orientation of my electron shells
Are no different than yours.

Is there something wrong with me?
My protons are just as red as everyone else?s.

If I were to be hit with a neutron, and my nucleus were to shatter.
Would not my energy spill out as any other atoms life?s blood?

The only hope I have left is to find a particle of antimatter,
And to die in total annihilation.

The Waves

Our love is like waves in the ocean.
Two waves rolling out in the sea.
Both heading in unknown directions.
Wondering what they both are to be.

The first wave has been beached many times.
Carrying problems of sand, shells, and pea.
He's just rolled crashed on a shoreline,
And starting to recede back to sea.

He is just a little waveling.
Another wave has broken him down.
He's crawling back to the ocean.
His sorrows to try to drown.

The second waves out in the deep sea.
She's never experienced the shore.
But soon she'll turn white and roll over.
And a thunderous crash on the sand floor.

But first this wave had some problems.
But not sand and pee and shells.
This wave was hit by wind and rain.
And tossed ashore by swells.

On her way in and his way out.
He swept her off of her feet.
They joined in a big white rush.
What a way to meet.

Now that water has become still.
Calm and joined on the ocean floor.
The problems have all settled out.
For all of evermore.

Go troll somewhere else

?? I'm a Christian, and I don't see that as trolling. To me, that's a far more accepting response than you usually see on these boards. He's taking advantage of his right to civilly disagree and not trample on anybody else. What's wrong with that?
