Football > Baseball

I love baseball and don't care for football but how can ya not love Carlin? They don't make 'em like Carlin anymore these days.

Although this is on the surface a look at baseball vs football, it has much deeper meaning which goes to show the awesomeness that it Carlin.

These two YouTube comments say it much better than I can:
he's not talking about baseball being boring or for "pussies". nor about football being cool or "tough". this is called social commentary, and he's explaining why american's love football so much, and why it has become more and more popular over the years. and he is explaining why american's USED to call BASEBALL "America's Pastime".
this is hilarious and it has a good point. in the 60s, as America was descending into riots and wars and starting to come apart on itself with violence, football became the dominant sport. Baseball is connected with the America of the past, preferring peace (or at least non-engagement) but more than willing to fight when trouble came looking. This is why soccer has such a hard time in America, it doesn't speak to the national consciousness the way baseball and football do.

awww thanks!

<--- played baseball all life, well up till highschool where i had no strength of mind: after an injury during freshman tryouts, i gave up and didn't care to try again after playing other leagues, and rather did absolutely nothing. I wish I had a different mindset back then.. I'd kill to have played baseball, could of got good enough for college ball. 🙁
but yea, nobody loves baseball, it's nice to see somebody thinks it better than something.

lol, but seriously, it's not a sport I'd say is worth watching. I love playing it, and it's a game I love the competition of. That or paintball, which baseball has quite a bit in common with, that and paintball is like war so it's fun cuz you have a nearly guaranteed chance of life after. I don't get to play real/closer to real yet. 🙁

baseball is a sport I enjoyed more than anything else during my youth, and still would rather play that than football. But football, I can see the reason its more closely followed. The closest to following it I go, is with NCAA ball, and the strengths/weaknesses and stats of my school's team and the teams of other schools. I don't even watch pro ball, except I've watched it a couple times to watch Troy Smith play. But I don't necessarily enjoy playing it, I'm not exactly great. 😉 Baseball, I'm pretty darn happy with where I was at as far as skills during the time I played. I always wanted to get better, because I know I had plenty of skills to perfect, but when I had a pretty good team, I stood out because I could work with them and when they broke down I still stepped up (first baseman I was the best at, left field I was the best at and got the chance to excel at center field when it was offered. Had a lot of work needed on short stop, but I stopped playing that at a younger age. I should actually get on a good intramural team this year, just need to work on my hitting because it's been ages since I've faced fast pitchers, and wasn't great then at hitting the faster pitchers.

playing it I was happy, but I could only really enjoy watching a baseball game, and only at the stadium can I even watch them... I had to imagine myself down at first base, else I started daydreaming. Then again, ADD doesn't help with that, but I know I can focus on the things I enjoy, so that tells ya that baseball isn't something I enjoy watching. 😛

woot!
I'd put everything in the same order. Not sure where'd I throw in NHL, honestly, because it's and off and on thing. Mostly I don't follow it and only enjoying watching it at a stadium with a team I like. If I don't like the teams, I don't give a shit.. well that's actually for every sport except college football. I only follow college football, and that's it. I don't care about other sports to watch them on tv, and even at stadiums I drift off.
