ONE GOALIE!! It's a Keeper.

You'd have to see it in person to make sure it's not wobbly, make sure the men are all intact, etc. There's not much that can go wrong as long as the bar are straight, men are securly attached, legs aren't going to fall off, etc.

If you're pickin git up I'd agree to the sale provided you don't find anything upon an in-person inspection that makes you change your mind.

Means the goalie rods only have 1 man, as opposed to 3 men, which typically indicates that the playing field is completely flat. This one seems to have inclined corners, which, IMO, is easier to play.

Go check it out yourself. $65 is pretty cheap, but will the rods slide and rotate well? Can the legs be leveled?

I'm pretty sure it's standard to have 2 defenders and one goalie on the same line now. That's what all decent tables have. That being said, $65 is cheap for a table so If it's in good condition I wouldn't pass it up. I thought one goalie was what you wanted when I was getting a foosball table until I did some research and found out that it's 3 now.

oh yeah forgot, You want to ask if the rods use ball bearings. That is something that makes it easier to slide. This one may not since it's $65.

All decent tables have a 3-man goalie rod? Yeah, right.

Good 1-man goalie tables don't have ramps in the corner, they just have the corners tilted up slightly. I've seen crappy one where the table was flat and there was an actual ramp piece added to the table. THat's crap.

I hate 3man golaie rods because I don't like having to pass the ball between goalies to get it where I want it. That's what the forwards are for.

Bonzini tables are French style tables. I didn't mention that I was talking about tables used for tourneys in the states. Older tables used here had one goalie and then they switched to 3. Bonizini tables still use the 1 goalie system but are still good tables, you just won't see them in too many tourneys over here. That being said I was making my statement based on tourneys around here, but as most people are using the table for recreational purposes it doesn't matter much.

I like the 3 man goalies with flat back surfaces better.

In terms of brands, I like tornados.

3man golies suck...

in college a guy on our floor had a foosball table...I had never really played much, but he was absolutely amazing...would destroy everyone he played..you really couldn't even see the ball when he hit it, just hear the 'thunk' as it blew past your goalie..he could pass from his goalie to his front line guys, back and forth all day....never played with a teammate either...

I became his foosball padawan.....skilled with the little men am I

Tourney tables in the states are almost always 3 man golies.

1 man golies mean a curved surface in the back.

I like the single goalie ones MUCH better -- and had a table similar to that one when I was growing up. The corners are all sloped -- and I got pretty good with a touch-shot with one of the corner-forwards that used the bank on the slope to slip the ball in the goal behind the goalie. I remember every time I'd make that shot I would laugh hysterically...

The main thing to look for is if all the bars are straight and if the table has any damage that would make it unstable and eventually fall apart.

Try moving the bars around and back'n'forth aggressively -- as that's what you'll do while really playing. Does the table move around? Like it's too light-weight? The heavier the better, especially if you're older than 12.

If you've got a game store near you -- like one that specializes in pool tables, drop by and get an idea of what replacement parts they have for foos ball tables. Chances are, if there is a broken man on the one you're buying, it's easily replaced. The only hassle is FINDING the part.

edit: Oh, and take some furniture polish, like Pledge, and a rag. If the table has been sitting for awhile, the bars are probably dirty and won't move nicely. Wipe them with some Pledge, and they should move and spin effortlessly.

for $65, this one is definitely one of those cheaply wobbly ones made. It MAY look good from the pic, but real heavy wood solidly built tables are way more expensive. If you are thinking this is one of those foosball tables you find at bars/pool halls or arcades, then you are mistaken. Most likely this will be a flimsy, wobbly table, yet still quite enjoyable. So meh.
