That's not a legal application of Fair Use. When making backup copies, the backups must be made from the original legally-owned source.

You were supposed to keep the reciepts, so if you claim that the CD's were stolen they can request to see the reciepts. No original CD's and no proof in the form of reciepts = you are screwed.

I don't think they are illegal. If so why isn't anyone suing them? why aren't the feds going after them for thier "illegal" tactics. As far as I know everything they are doing is according to the law.

What he meant to say was "unconstitutional." And for a bill to be declared unconstitutional, it has to be reviewed by the Supreme Court. And they simply haven't gotten to it yet.
